Car seat law in Florida

Here you go:
1)(a) Every operator of a motor vehicle as defined herein, while transporting a child in a motor vehicle operated on the roadways, streets, or highways of this state, shall, if the child is 5 years of age or younger, provide for protection of the child by properly using a crash-tested, federally approved child restraint device. For children aged through 3 years, such restraint device must be a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child seat, or a seat belt may be used.

Previous poster is correct. It's 4 and up only require a seatbelt.

However, these kinds of thread draw many who have a very strong opinion on carseats so be prepared.

Do what is best for your family. Try to ignore the lectures.

I bring no back booster seats for my girls but I did leave them behind last year when my DH wasn't joining us because it was just too much for me to carry alone. DDs were 6 and 9 so I chose to leave them home.

Enjoy your vacation!

Also, car seats are NOT required in taxi cabs, motorcoach buses, or public/mass transit buses (ie. disney buses). They ARE however required if you rent a car or hire a towncar/limo service.

Holy Crow! I can't believe that's the law down there! Here it's boosters til 8 and recommended til 11! I'll still bring my dd's booster with us-she's 6.
