I have a convertible rented for our trip and will need to bring a car seat. It is the Britax Roudabout.

We have gotten a convertible before but have never had a car seat. So we know all about the limited space and visibility.

Thanks

no answer about how the carseat will fit, but I had to post. the one thing I am concerned about is if you are actually going to drive with the top down. everytime I have sat in the back seat of a convertable, the wind has been enough to almost take my breath away. I would personally never put a child there while the top was down.

How old is your child? When ds was 4 we tried our first convertible. He cried about how cold he was and the wind blew the little velcro pillow off the back of his booster seat. He's always been the type to love a "blankie" so we take blankie in the car and then he doesn't mind. It looks funny when it's like 90 degrees out but who cares? We've since gotten conv. about 3 more times and he's fine with blankie and sunglasses to keep the wind off his eyes too. All the while that he complained the first time, my older ds who was 7 at the time told me, "You sooo rock! You're the best mom ever!" etc. He thought his little brother was crazy. Last time was May and he was 6 and didn't complain at all even w/o blankie. :thumbsup2 Some kids are just more sensitive so be ready.

Well to respond to your question... All of the converibles you get from the rental car companies meet US standards for car seats so you will be fine.

If you have a choice take the Sebring. You can use a car seat on it and all the convertibles out there, but IMHO the Sebring (or the Solara if you can get one from Hertz) are much easier to deal with then the Mustang for things like this.

As for the wind and the whining... you know your kids so do what you think best. (I have a convertible. No one has ever complained the wind in the back seat took their breath away. My friends ask for the top down even when they are sitting back there so it must not be that bad)
