My daughter will be just over two when we go to DW in Nov 09. If we buy her a seat on the plane and bring her carseat is it true that we can not bring it on the Disney Magical Express? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I don't have the experiance, but I assume they stow it for you with the rest of the luggage, and you can hold your dd on your lap. But here is a bump so you may find someone with some first hand experiance.

I found the official Disney Response for you.

. Are car seats allowed on the motor coaches?

A. No. Car seats are not permitted on the motor coaches; they must be stowed underneath the motor coach. Children can either sit on an adult's lap or occupy a seat by themselves.

This is from the Disney Website

You can not use a carseat on DME, but they will stow it under the bus. There is not any form of WDW transportation that you can use a car seat on. And before you take it on the plane make sure it is FAA approved. We have not use a car seat on a plane since our kids were out of the carrier type carseat.

We have never used a car seat on a plane, but you should make sure yours if FAA approved. Your Car seat will be stored under the DME for you with the luggage. There are no seatbelts on DME therefore nothing to use to attach the car seat in the bus. If you feel comfortable not using a car seat on the plane and are not renting a car/using a taxi you do not need to bring a car seat. IMO :)

The DME busses are coach-style busses owned by Mears, actually. They have the huge luggage storage compartments underneath. Before you board, the driver will stow any carry-on luggage, strollers, and car seats under the bus. The busses don't have seatbelts (or LATCH anchors, for that matter) so there is no way to attach a car seat to the vehicle seat. If it makes you feel any better, traveling by buss is actually much safer than traveling in a smaller personal vehicle. They have sheer size on their side and are just a lot less likely to be involved in an accident. You main challenge on the bus will be to keep your LO contained in a seat for the approx 30min ride from the airport. This was the most challenging thing for us w/our ds at that age.

You will have the same challenge on the airplane, which is why I recommend bringing the car seat for the plane trip anyway. :) Plus, if you do decide to rent a car one day during your trip, or hire a taxi, you will have the car seat with you.

ETA: also, most car seats with internal 5pt harnesses are FAA approved. It won't actually say "FAA" anywhere on the seat. The sticker is usually white with black and red lettering and it will say, "approved for use in vehicles and aircraft" on it. hth!

Whether you use it on the bus or not (which you can't), it's still the safest way for her to ride in the airplane and IME will be the most comfortable for her. Get a $40 Cosco Scenera for the trip and call it good.
