Car rides, Characters, and Coodies. October 18-25 TR

ooh make sure to let me know when you start it! You'll have to give the details of how you were chosen to do that!

I've started my report, so please stop by and check it out. I'm still asking myself how we got chosen. We were just in the right place at the right time.

I love your updates. The picture of Eric and Madeline dancing the street is too cute. I'm sorry to hear that Madeline became ill. That is so stressful for everyone.

Thanks I'll go look at that aerial shot next. :)

Madeline had so much fun dancing. Before we left I sort of had a feeling she might get sick. :confused3

I'm going out of town until tomorrow so there will be no new update until Friday or Saturday.

Ugh! Getting sick at DisneyWorld is NOT allowed.

Hoping the next day's story gets better :thumbsup2

Eric's favorite breakfast at Disney is Tusker House. That was enough motivation for him to wake up on time. While he hopped in the shower I checked on Madeline to see if her fever was gone. She felt cool as a cucumber so if she was willing to get up we would go to AK. We decided that we'd stay til about noon or so, so that she should get some more rest.

Our breakfast was at 8:10am. We headed out at 7:30 or maybe slightly later.
We arrived at Ak before 8am. There was a slight line to get in. Madeline seemed a little off but willing to do whatever. Our name wasn't on the list for some reason but the CM wrote us in. We headed right to Tusker House. There was no photopass photog out like there was last time. We got checked in (our name was on that list) and waited for our picture. This time Donald was outside greeting guests
105.jpg

107.jpg

I didn't realize at the time but this counted as Donalds visit. He was not inside at all. We got seated and got our food. We were in the left side of the restaurant right by the entrance to the last room. It was a much better table then last time. It was also right by the side exit to the park. This exit gets you right to the rope for the safari.

Madeline chowed down (if you count eating 1 donut as chowing down) while she waited for the characters.
109.jpg

She was getting really impatient and it had only been about 15 minutes. Luckily for us Mickey showed up pretty quickly
114.jpg

After Mickey she pretty much lost any and all will to sit still
116-1.jpg

Next Daisy came by
117-1.jpg

and then it was time for the parade
122-1.jpg

125.jpg

Shortly after the parade our last character, Goofy, came by.
128.jpg

131.jpg

This seemed to get her in a better mood.

We finished up our meal and then headed out the side door to go to the safari. Apparently having Donald outside to meet people really cuts down on the wait time inside for the characters because we were out before rope drop! It was actually really nice having Donald outside!!

We waited about 5 minutes or so and then they dropped the rope. We headed right to the safari. We made it on the first tram. I love how the CM's at this ride take your stroller from you half way through the line. The driver told us to put our camera's on sports mode so I complied. I didn't think it could hurt and maybe I'd get a better shot. Here are a couple of the animals we saw.

After the safari we headed right to the animal trail (whichever one is right there). I was delighted to see this guy (they didn't come out of their holes in May)
214.jpg

217.jpg

We didn't have much luck with the gorilla's.

Now it was time for a train ride.
231.jpg

I think Madeline was feeling better:
233.jpg

234.jpg

We took the trail to Planet Watch. About halfway down there was a little station with a game. I had no idea this was there. Apparantly there are 5 of them around the park, one in each land/country.
236.jpg

239.jpg

She got a little book with a stamp. She was then supposed to get a stamp for each of the "games" around the park. If she completed all of them she would get a prize (we only managed 3 out of 5 couldnt' find the last 2)

We headed to the building to see if any characters were out. What do you know but this little guy was there
242.jpg

and so was
246.jpg

We headed outside to the petting zoo. I have never seen a stranger petting zoo. All of the animals were coralled. I'm thinking that they used to have food there to feed them and then took it away. So they had no motivation to come visit. Most of the kids didn't let that sto them though.
251.jpg

254.jpg

hey look, one goat decided to come out
261-1.jpg

There was a little area next to the petting zoo. They had a skunk out to train.
263.jpg

We didn't stay for long. I'm not a fan of getting sprayed by skunks and didn't want to risk it. Back to the train we went.

There were a couple of other things we wanted to see before we left. We found a mask station on the way out of Africa (never found the game).
265.jpg

Then of course we hit up the drums. Luckily Madeline had no problem leaving them after getting to hit just 1 drum (we had a problem getting her away from them last time).
267.jpg

268.jpg

On our way to Asia, Terk, King Louie, and Baloo were out. Madeline just fell in love with Terk!
277.jpg

278.jpg

287-1.jpg

When we were done meeting the characters Madeline and I ducked into a little table area for a snack while Eric scored some Everest fast passes.

In asia there was another mask place.
300.jpg

303.jpg

It was then time to see if Madeline was tall enough for Kali River Rapids. For some reason she wasn't (I thought it was 37 inches and she was 36.5 at the doc without shoes, anyway). She was ok with that and very excited to get to see daddy on the ride.
306-1.jpg

After the ride we stuck her in her stroller and headed to the other animal trail. Madeline pretty much immediately fell asleep. She missed seeing the tiggers and bats.
313.jpg

329-1.jpg

It was now time for Everest! I let Eric go on first while I sat with Madeline near the exit. While I waited I noticed a CM to the left of the store letting people through. At first I thought it was a place where you could watch the ride, but I soon realized it was a single rider entrance. SCORE! Soon enough it was my turn. I got to ride with an old man that thought it was funny to tell me he throws up on roller coasters.

When I met back up with Eric I mentioned the single rider line to him. He rode 2 more times while Madeline slept. I could have gone more but the coasters just aren't as fun to me when I'm not riding with someone I know. So with Everest conquered (I did see the yeti, but she was just standing still), we headed off to Dinosaur land. Our plan was to ride Dinosaur while Madeline was still sleeping. The line said 20 minutes so we decided to get FP's. Our tummy's were growling (I think it was around 1pm) so we headed off in search of a snack. We found the place that sells ice cream sandwiches. I enjoyed this much more then the one at MK from the bakery. When we were just about done Madeline woke up. I swear this kid could smell ice cream from a mile away. She was lucky to wake up just in time to get some.

331.jpg

We found another game and got a stamp. Here she had to match the jaw of the dinosaur.
332-1.jpg

A spin on triceratops spin sounded good about now. We had to wait through 2 cycles of this ride. While we waited it started to rain. It was refreshing actually.
339.jpg

It was then time to use the fast passes for Dinosaur. I got to go first this time. Eric took Madeline to meet these guys while I was gone:

We were having really good luck with meeting character today!

359.jpg

While Eric rode I gave Madeline another snack. I was very happy that she was starting to eat again. We then played in the area for a bit.

Off to the dig site we went.

With that conquered, we decided to try our luck with more character. We hit up the character landing. I REALLY miss that boat ride that used to launch from there.
I was glad to see it was Pooh and friends since we missed them the day before.

On our way to camp Minnie Mickey Madeline got to play with some hula hoops
446.jpg

444.jpg

and so did Eric
449.jpg

Soon we reached Lilo and Stich. We timed it just right. We got there just before the Lion King show let out.
456.jpg

458.jpg

Madeline then got to do one more game and got her last stamp of the day.

Would we get to see more characters? How late would we end up staying?

I love Animal Kingdom!! Your day looks great so far. Can't wait to hear how late you ended up staying. I hope you stayed for the parade... we loved it.

When we first went to Disney, Animal Kingdom was my least favorite park... now besides Magic Kingdom I would have to say it is my second favorite. We will see how it is this trip, but last year, we loved the food, the rides, the animals, the slow pace, the big beers, the parade and all the characters.

Glad that Eric and Madeline seem to be feeling better- you can tell in the pics that she was sick in Toontown and seems buch better on your AK Day!!

Fun update! can't wait to see how the day turns out!!!
she looks like she felt better on this day and having a great time!!!

and it appears that ya'll hit the character jackpot!! :yay:
Have a great day!
:wave2: Connie

Fun update!
Thank Goodness Madeline was starting to feel better.:thumbsup2
You guys were really catching all the characters today.
Where exactly is the Pooh gang? I've seen them in a few TRs but can never find them
Have a good night.

We had a fantastic day this day. It was definitely one of my favorite if not THE favorite day. We went in just wanting to do breakfast and the dino dig area and found so much more to do. Sometimes it really is a good idea to not plan out your day!

yep and more to come!

I'm here! Madeline is adorable.:lovestruc

Barbara

Thanks :)

Excellent character day! Would you recommend the Tusker House meal?

IMO Tusker House is the best breakfast on property. There is a HUGE selection of food and the character interaction is really good.

Fun update!

Pooh is to the left as you leave the dinosaur area. There is a sign that says Character landing. It's a boat dock (used to be used for the boat ride they had). The wait wasn't long at all. I think there were 2 families in front of us.

Wow, you hit the character jackpot on this day! :yay: So glad to hear that Madeline was feeling better.

Yes we were glad she was feeling better. She did have a cough (and actually still does, ugh). There are more characters to come! I think AK is the best place to meet them.

Ok, so we were in Camp Minnie Mickey. We found the game and played that for the last stamp we'd receive for the day.

We moved on and saw

483.jpg

I love how Pocahantas put Madeline on her lap. So cute
485.jpg

490.jpg

The only things in this land are the lion king show and the characters. The Pocahantas show is no longer. I hope they put something else back there soon.

We moved on to the official character area. There are little huts for the main characters. We made sure to see MInnie since she wasn't at breakfast.

497.jpg

Then Mrs. Bunny was out.

I also took Madeline to the bathroom while we were in the area. I think it's the most kid friendly bathroom on property.

It was nearing parade time so we we headed back to Africa. We crossed the street and stood next to 2 other families in the small opening that leads to the otters. This was the best place to be. All of the characters came up to us to shake hands ect.

After the parade I really wanted to get a closer look at the tree so we headed off to find a path to do that. We found one but it only went around 1/2 of the tree. Oh well. Madeline was pretty much ready to go so it was a good thing.

After the tree I really wanted to find another of the game stations. We headed back toward Asia to find that one. We didn't have any luck so we headed out of the park. I think we left around 4:30. So we almost made it the entire time the park was open. Plus were were there before park opening for breakfast.

We went to Sweet Tomatoes for supper. Madeline ended up throwing up there. I think it was just her super strong gag reflex though. It didn't seem to phase her at all.

When we got back to the resort we decided to let her go swimming for a bit. I'm glad we did because we ran into her little friend that we met on Tuesday. They got to play for a little bit.

After swimming we headed back to the room for bath and bedtime. I think I made her take one last dose of medicine this night in hopes she's sleep well.

We had a wonderful day! The next day was our anniversay and Ohana dinner. What would we do all morning?

We loved that parade too. It was great how much the characters interact with the kids. Next time you go, you have to try Yak and Yeti for lunch or dinner.
I am so glad you had such a wonderful day- I cant wait to hear about Ohana! Reading your report gets me SO excited to go back and experience it all again!! :goodvibes
