Car Rentals in May

I got my minivan thru Alamo Insiders using ID 7015820(20%off) and coupon code AD4027JDO for $181.43 May 14-21. I'm happy with this. I've paid between $200 and $300 before for a week. But I was shocked at how high the rates were when I started looking-they were $700(that was in Jan.). I knew I could do better. Now my DH asks, "What else can you get cheap for our trip?" Good luck to everyone else!

Sheri

I used these codes and got a great rate but it says you may need to present a coupon for these rates. Is there a coupon? Has anyone had to provide a coupon? I received these codes from an Alamo email but there wasn't a "coupon"

Just a tip: I tried the same times using p/u at the car care center and it was $150 more !!!!! Also I'd used a different p/u time same days and it was $15 more. It's time consuming but if you have the time you can really find some good deals.

I don't think you need to print out a 40% off coupon for insider, but if you go to the website and there is any click to print button, just do it!

Well I fly out tomorrow morning so I assume this will be the final update. Just to recap it is a 1 week rental Alamo rental, midsized picking up and dropping off at MCO, $64.95. This absolutely blows me away. The gas to fill the tank may be more than the rental.

I used a Costco discount in January when I booked thru Alamo and flew to MCO. Nobody asked for any coupon even though they listed that disclaimer on there. I use the self service kiosk and bypass the counter altogether. The only time I encountered an Alamo employee was once I got to the garage somebody pointed me in the right direction and then once I was leaving the garage I had to show my license and rental agreement to the agent. So I wouldn't worry about it.

I certainly hope these low rates continue until July. We need July 1 to the 16th. And the cheapest I can find is $568.

I can't seem to get anything better for a fullsize car then $180 dates are Pick up 5-21 drop off 5-31 Orlando Airport...anyone see anything lower? If so what codes?

Wow! Checked again this morning, and got our minivan rental down to $154.64 for the week! That's picking up this Friday, 5/6, and returning next Friday, 5/13, using the Alamo Insiders code and the $40 coupon.

wish I was picking up at MCO instead of MIA, it would only be $112 instead of $170. :sad2:

I don't know why I torture myself every day by checking the difference. :rotfl:

jealous....;)

Dan, will you use the rental once you are in WDW or will it sit? If you won't use it a lot, I'd just go with the 2 one way rentals, it saves you money.
Here now. I decided on the 9 day rental. :drive: I am so used to having the flexibility, if I want to drive to DtD, a resort, offsite. And the additional hassle of dealing with dropping off and then getting again was more than I wanted to deal with. I do use Disney transportation for the most part while on site though.

As an aside, again, at MCO, no standard size, so a standard reservation does give a renter a full size. On the full size aisle yesterday, there were a lot of full, regular sized mini vans, Kia's and Doge Grand Caravans. I took a Dodge Grand, $120 for 9 days. :drive: And I am used to national more than Alamo, and forgot the kiosk thing. No problem, worked the same as National, just drove to the check out, took about 2 minutes, mostly me jabbering with the service person. :)

Wow...I wish the van wasn't a necessity for me...i might have just booked the standard and hoped that the vans were sitting there for me too! Great deal you got!

I've got a full-size for 9 days $121 total in May. I used ID #7015820, coupon AD4027JDO and my Alamo Insider's member number.

The above ID was sent out in a mass email to Insiders, and the coupon gives $40 off.

Let us know if this got you a better rate!

Mine dropped again today. May 7-15 at MCO for $83 now with the Insiders Code and $40 coupon.

Thanks so much for posting that! We rented a full size but DH would really rather have a van. I can't justify another $100 so hopefully this will give him hope we might get something bigger. If not, the kids will manage!

Have a great trip!

Thanks to everyone here for inspiring me to check the rates on my reservation with National daily. With the coupon code for $35.00 off and an Amex discount, I've been able to get my rental for a full size down to $76.87 from May 14 am to May 22 pm!

We're Executive members, so I'll be sure to post what we are able to pick up when we return!

In a holding pattern with $75.75 for a week with an Alamo midsize at the end of May - might have a chance for another reduction before the trip.
