My family is coming to Disney from Dec 31- Jan 7 and renting a car that week is well over $500.

I started doing some research and came across a site called Relay Rides. You can rent a car directly from an owner and use it for your vacation. This would save us a ton of money but I am looking to see if anyone has done this before?

Are there other sites besides Relay Rides I could use?

Please let me know if you have any experience with this type of car rental.

Thanks!

I never heard of Relay Rides but it is something I would never consider. I couldn't imagine how you can be safely covered/insured by doing this. There are many tips and threads on this forum for renting a car. There are deals to be had, you just have to troll the websites. The last time we rented a car at WDW for Easter week in April 2014, we got it for $189 for 10 days...all in, including taxes, etc. It can be done.

So will we! But we have a 2 year old so I doubt we make it very far past 8 or 9 pm.

Stay for the holiday IllumiNations. It is totally worth it! Make sure to bring a nice blanket for your child as that week can be chilly.

P.S.
I see you have been to hong kong and Tokyo Disney....worth it?
Yes! Hong Kong was very small but the people were so nice and Disney Sea over in Japan is my favorite non-Magic Kingdom park.

On the 31st they have an Illuminations at 6 I believe. Would that be the holiday one or would we need to stay for the midnight show?

I think the earlier one has the holiday tag at the end. If *you* are able to stay awake until midnight I would try. The fireworks are really great. Your child will sleep in the stroller while you walk around and enjoy the crowds.
