Car Rental ?

Hi, Who do you rent your car from in Orlando? I am trying to book my trip without using a TA. So far the rates vary from $600 to $720 for a minivan for 8 days. Thanks

I'm using Hotwire.com for my car rental. I managed to get a 10 day full size rental for $152 for this September.

Seems steep. Last time I rented a minivan, it was from Thrifty and it was like $150 for the week, but I know I rarely spend over $200 for a week on a intermediate/fullsize.

When are you going? The transportation board has a lot of codes and coupons you can use for Alamo, National etc at the airport.
We are going next week and a 10 day mini van from National is going to be just over $200. Only a month ago that same reservation was over $500 most places.

Sometimes dollar.com directly without codes is best. Give that a try.

Try calling them direct. I got a better deal with Alamo that way.

We have used National and Alamo in the past with great rates using CAA/AAA discounts and coupons. Check out mousesavers, they can point you to the good deals.

I second using mousesavers.

I played with all the discount codes and coupons and booked my rental months ago with Dollar for our September trip for $300 for 8 day minivan.

I just kept watching and trying all the different companies and codes and ended up booking with Alamo a couple of weeks ago for $161 taxes incl for 8 days. That includes a free add'l driver.

When we went last year at Christmas, I starting looking to book a rental months ahead of time and it was really high. I got a notice from Hotwire about 2 weeks before our trip for $16.95/day for a minivan.

I would suggest just keep trying and hopefully some discounts will come up.
