I tried doing a search but it kept giving me an error page.

Sooo I need help with this to get the best deal.

I'm travelling in May and I have all the insurances already with another company who specialise in Annual North American Car Rental Insurance.

So I don't want to be forking out for all the extras - I just want the car, what does everyone else do? Can anyone recommend some good deals.

I went to Mousesavers but a lot of them seem to be for US residents but I'm sure I've just filled in the code before online and then just gone up to the desk - I've never been told that the code was just for American residents even though I prolly booked it as one on-line. I never noticed it before until now.

Any help would be appreciated - the Brits Guide code included all the insurances that I just don't need.

TIA

You can book through Alamo and use the code from mousesavers (the walmart code 20%) we have used this code. You don't pay nothing at the counter as the airport tax is included, I know dollar charge you this at the counter. Plus it doesn't state it's for americans.
I have also used budget but I just put in I was American and used the code, otherwise you get the insurance added if you say you are from the UK.

Girl you should be an expert on this, you are there enough!! LOL

What insurance company do you use? as a matter of interest.

Thanks sweetie

LMAO I know I should be - I just got really thrown with the whole country of resident thing - I guess I just never noticed this before as I've booked a few good rates with Alamo in the past.

The Insurance company I use is ...

www.insurance4carhire.com

I have purchased the policy from insurance4carhire this year, has anyone had any experences of useing it with Alamo, I have booked a car with the wal mart discount, and have registered my details with Alamo so I dont have to visit the rental counter, Im hoping all this will go off smoothy!

How come you don't have to visit the counter? I know their partner National does this, I didn't realise Alamo did.

Someone on the "other dis board" posted this link

https://www.alamodirectroad.com/directroad/

If you give them all your details it says you can avoid the counter and go straight to the parking lot with your reservation # and credit card, if this workd it will hopefully mean I avoid the long lines and the hard sell for insurance that I dont need as I have my own policy!

Excellent thanks, I knew national did this. This will be a masive time saver.

:cool1: Just hope it all works, I put in all my details and hit send, I will Find out in May if they have recieved all my details and it has worked!

woo-hoo I can't wait to try this out - OK which of us leaves first and can let the others know - I'm out on May 4th

I just signed up and at the end it says "if you are picking up in Orlando then proceed to the driver road counter" wheres that. did anyone else get that?

I just went and re-read the page from the link above and it states that filling out the form will help get you on the road quicker. So you still need to go to the counter, it will just speed up the process.

Don't Alamo have a Check-in service too that can help speed it up - I'm pretty sure I saw it on their website? Has anyone done that?

Sam - I think you can only sign up if you're american, I tried it a few weeks ago and you had to have an American address.

(not dis related but, you have to answer my questions over in my pj)!! LOL

I have tried the page link for www.insurance4carhire.com but the site seems to be down at present.:confused3
Whilst I am here can anyone give me a rough idea what you pay through alamo + separate insurance as I have used www.yescarhire.com as their prices were much cheaper than travel agents or Holiday Autos and I am up for saving money on the car leaving more for WDW

If your coming out to Orlando and wanting car hire may i suggest a company you may wish to compare your quotes with.... They are called Holiday autos/Autos abroad and their details can be found in the yellow pages or local sunday press. When i used to vacation here i paid 129 pounds a week for a small size car, the smallest they have comparable to a peugeot 106 and that included all insurance, however althought thats what they sell you the company you pick up from which was always Dollar rent a car never have a car that small, i think the smallest i had was a chevy cavalier 2 door which was the same size as a BMW 3 series coupe.

Worth checking out. to upgrade to a convertible i think i paid an additional @250 dollars locally for 2 weeks.

Check it out but make sure when you call for a quote tell them you have used them before and you get an additional discount

I found the info I was looking for -
On the alamo site if you click on check in now (top right) this takes you to the check in process so you can go straight to the parking lot.
However this is only if you do-not use a coupon, voucher and you must have a US driving licence.

well if you all come stateside regularly i would advice you to take your driving test here. Its made up of a theory test,,,,,simple....and a practicle which takes place in a parking lot (not on the rd) even simpler. It is only valid for 90 days which is length of ur holiday visa but to renew it all you do is pay $25 and take an eye test in the test center. I took mine without reading the highway code and past first time. It is very easy and its handy to have for ID also you also get florida resident prices for everything such as annual passes as all you need is Fl driving licence and they dont check expiry date and even if they do so what...;-)

The link I posted is for UK visitors the link on the front page of alamos web site is for us and candian people only, From what I understand you dont have to queue up at the alamo desk but go straight to the booth in the parking lot and give your driving licence and credit card there - least that is what I understand!
I have sent Alamo an email asking them!
Fantasa sam I go on the 7th May - let me know how you get on!
