$10/day for a rental car over XMAS?? Does the term "when pigs fly" mean anything to you?? Not a chance on that one.
Actually that sounded a little harsh and I did not mean it to....but you need to be realistic. I have done car rentals through Priceline often and generally find that they are good buys for short rentals, but you can almost always do better or at least as good with using codes/coupons and booking directly for rentals of 1 week or more.
With a rental for your time frame (over 3 weeks) during the busiest rental week of the year in FL I think you had better plan on a pretty substantial investment.
You might be better off splitting your rental into a couple of weeks before Xmas and then Xmas week...because in a single rental you will most likely have to pay the peak season rate for the entire time and if you split the rental you could probably snag a much better rate for the early/mid-december time and just pay peak rates for the last week.
I would suggest going to mousesaver.com and checking out all the codes, etc there, then playing with dates and codes and see what is the best rate you can come up with that way and then try a Priceline bid for 15 or 20% less than that (although I think it is pretty unlikely that you will get a hit for such a long rental period)
If you want to see what people are getting on Priceline rental car bids you can go to
www.biddingfortravel.com and scroll down to the rental car section. I do not recall seeing a $10/day bid accepted in the Orlando area in the past couple of years. But that site will give you an idea of what people are getting cars for...but keep in mind that seasonal fluctuations in rental car rates are HUGE.
