are there options for car rentals that can seat 6 adults?
back when my brothers were young, my whole family fit quite comfortably in a Buick LeSabre.
now that everyone's all grown up, only myself and my mom can sit up front in that tiny center seat.

anyway, my family might want to rent a car to have the ability to drive around Orlando and maybe to Daytona Beach or Clearwater Beach.

is a minivan our only option? none of us are used to driving larger vehicles like a minivan or SUV, so i don't know how comfortable we'd be driving them.

We fit 6 quite well in an Impala, Intrepid and Regal. Took all the baggage too. These cars were rented from National and Alamo.

The only negatives we have found with our Minivan (Pontiac Montana) was the slightly lower gas mileage, more buffeting on windy days and not so nimble around corners :wave:

Other than that I think a mini-van (extended) would work well - the other thing I would consider is how much luggage involved and whether you would get a 7 or 8 seater - (7 is 2x2x3 - 8 is 2x3x3)

Thanks
Jason

Gail, what category would those cars be from National or Alamo?
are they Premium? Luxury? or just plain Full-Size?

the problem is you can't really guarantee what make you end up with. so is there such thing as a company that has a category that guarantees seating for 6 adults? w/ 6 seatbelts and all?

We drive smaller cars at home & find it doesn't take long to get used to a minivan. I do ask others to turn around & check for cars when I change lanes, because the blind spots are a little different. I wait until I think it's clear & then ask for confirmation. It's only been not clear once. :)

An SUV will most likely not hold all of you and your luggage unless it's a jumbo one.

Will those large cars hold 6 suitcase?

I would recommend a minivan. National and Dollar say that their premium cars hold 6 passengers, but that is not always the case. Sometimes those cars have a console in the middle of the front seat and then they only seat 5. With a minivan you are assured of having 7 seats available. Case in point, my Dad went to Vegas last week. I reserved him a premium figuring he would have 6 seats if needed them. He was on a golf outing with some buddies and their wives who didn't rent a car. He used National. He got to the Premium aisle and had a wide selection of 1 car. One. It was a Mitsubishi Diamante, which may be a nice car, but not as large as I consider a premium to be but that's another story. He asked about the car, and they said that was the only premium they had now, he could take it or wait until they get one returned which could have taken hours. I know, this happens infrequently, and I have never seen empty aisles at Orlando, but still... You are guaranteed a class of car, not the number of seats apparently and for this reason, if it were me, I would take the minivan..

They are full sized. I think premium or luxury does state 6 adults.

If you go to car rental sites, and click on their vehicles, they tell you the capacity.
