Does anyone have good tips or suggestions on getting the best deal for a car rental? We are going May 19 -26. Pick-up and Drop-off is both at MCO. The only discount I have is AAA. Have to have a minivan due to 6 passengers.

check out www.mousesavers.com for car rental codes and discounts. Mary has all the current discount codes available and lots of helpful information about each rental agency.
I am using National at MCO with the priceless vacations discount and the Entertainment book coupon. I got a pretty good rate for August.

Are you talking about National Rental Car? I didn't know what the EA stands for.

Thank you for the car info from Mousesavers and the contract numbers, etc. It did save me some $!

You dont have to have a minivan. I have 6 also and you can book a premium, or luxury. And believe it or not they're cheaper than a mini.

Make sure you check www.rentalcars.com and www.hotwire.com, I've seen MUCH better prices there than you can get direct. rentalcars.com is my favorite, seems to beat hotwire most of the time, and you don't have to pre-pay. I just checked and it shows Alamo minvan for that week for $219 + taxes and fees = 276.55. It also show EZ-Rentacar near the airport (with shuttle to pick you up) for $167 + t/f = $223.45. I don't know how good or reliable EZ is, but that's a killer price.
One silly thing on rentalcars.com, when you're searching, note that it still defaults to 2004, so if you don't change it to 2005 it will come back saying nothing available or something.
I have 5 kids, 1 is an infant, plus DW and I, and we rented a Premium for 1 day in SoCal, it was pretty nice, 2 small kids doubled up seatbelt. RentalCars.com is showing 167.99 + t/f = $215 for a premium for that week from Budget, and their cars are right in the airport parking garage, very convenient. Good Luck!

How are they for luggage.. we are going to have 6 mid size suitcases?

Thanks for the great tip EA has them for 164.00 with priceless and Entertainment book discount. I was thinking we would have to rent 2 cars to save the cost of a mini van!

I actually think the trunk space in the premium is comparable to a minivan. The minivans are NOT the extended type, like my Grand Voyager, so the space between the 3rd row seats and the liftgate is narrow. Also, DW rented a minivan once recently, had to come pick me up at another airport. There was this really dumb insert in the back of the van, like convenience trays or something, that took up all of the lower luggage space. It came out easily, but neither DW nor the rental car agency knew it could be removed, so we struggled with very little luggage space for a day.

that is great to know! I have a mini van.. an astro, and I would be lucky to get 3 suitcases in the back.. we have to put them under the seats to make anything fit.
what a pain! when we go away in summer we load up the boat, that makes things easier.
