Car rental return ? at MCO and Disney transfers

Hi!

I will have my 80 yr old mom with us in June when we come for our Fantasy cruise! We are flying into Tampa the nite before and then I was thinking of staying at a hotel near MCO on hotel points I have, so we could then take the Disney transfers to the port b/c it's hard for her to get around. Figured this way, we'd be all checked in, etc. Question is though, we will have a rental car so if we chose to return it that morning, is it easy to do with it being close to where the Disney buses are? Or is the return area on the other side of the airport?!

Any information would be appreciated b/c I am kind of at a lost right now what to do and I am an OCD planner!

I'm pretty sure that all the major car agencies have rentals AND returns on both sides of MCO.

In your case, you will want to return your car to MCO's Terminal B, which houses Disney's Welcome Center for Magical Express and Disney Cruise Line Transportation.

When you get to the airport, follow the signs for Terminal B, then stay in the left lane marked Car Rental Return.

Depending on the agency you rented from, you will return to either the 1st or 2nd level of the parking garage.

There is no curbside drop off for DCL at MCO. Disney transportation is on the ground floor Level 1 and airport pick up and drop off are on Levels 2 and 3 respectively.

There are luggage carts available for rent near the car rental return and you may also find some wheel chairs around, if needed (might take some searching).

Are you sure this idea makes sense?

1. Pay for rental car at TPA. Let's say $50...
2. Turn in car so you can pay Disney $50 each to take a bus?

Hmm.. Why? Because it's hard for her to get around? You still have to navigate the same area. The only saving MIGHT be the time in line at the port, but you will have to stand in line at the airport to check in. Just not seeing this one make much sense.

I woudl go with pick up car in Tampa, drive to port and turn car in there. Same $50 for car rental but a savings of all those fees to Disney!
