This will be our first time to WDW. We are planning to go August 24-31 week.
I've heard that a taxi will be expensive from the airport to most hotels near WDW. I've checked expedia.ca and can get a small rental car for $225 CND. I'm trying to stay in the park at downtown disney. I think that I will book through priceline. I'm concerned about having to eat our meals in the park so the car would give us the opportunity to drive for supper meals. Any advice would be most appreciated.

We were first time visitors in December (2 weeks - stayed off-site). We rented a car and I'm glad we did. We found that there was not much in walking distance and the food in WDW was pretty expensive. Don't know if you have kids or not but we have 12 & 15 yr old and they loved US & IOA as much as WDW and their favourite park of all was Busch Gardens. If you are going anywhere other than WDW, I would suggest a car. Even when we spent our last day at WDW and did Poly Resort for breakfast, MK, Epcot & Blizzard Beach all in one day, it was much simpler to drive from park to park. I reserved a car from Dollar on the internet before we went and it was fine. Also if you do get a car, check to see if your own car insurance covers rental cars....ours did and we saved the cost of insurance.
