Car rental offer

Anybody know which company they use for car hire ??

We will be doing a fair bit of driving this time as flying into Miami and Staying in WDW & Clearwater so would like to use Dollar/Thrifty/Alamo as they seem to work out the best options when using the toll roads...

It was Alamo when I rented thru them Feb last year, every rental I have read about with them has been Alamo and their write up on each car is same as with Alamo so I doubt they deal with anyone else but you can't be 100% sure til you book as far as I know.

Still might opt for Dollar as they do a flat charge for tolls of $36.99 for 14days inc all tolls and fees taxes.
Do you know how much the turnpike from Miami to Orlando tolls costs ??

Not something I have ever looked at, never spent more than about $10 on tolls but never been to Miami.

we never spent more than $15 for 3 weeks in tolls and we did a lot of driving (more than 1.000 miles in the orlando area and 1 trip to clearwater)
Of course we didn't take the turnpike, but even if we had, $36.99 would have been expensive.
Lots of road signs will direct you to toll roads, but you can easily find alternate roads, without tolls. We only got caught by toll roads on our first 2 days
Sure, their all inclusive toll deal gives you peace of mind and you can drive through tolls without stopping, but, still, I find this pretty expensive

Thanks for your advice... :)

Ive since found out the Turnpike cost approx $15 from Miami to Orlando so doing tha journey twice plus other driving around to Clearwater & Tampa I cant see how I would not be better off using the Dollar Toll system @ $36.99 inc all toll charges it now seems a good option to use....

Not come across tolls to Tampa/Clearwater only when we go East to the Port but if the Turnpike is going to cost $30 its probably worth taking at $37 for convenience and chance of coming cross other tolls.

Found on a Sunpass web site https://www.sunpass.com/rentalcar the following....

Rent-A-Toll (Pass24):Dollar, Thrifty, and Sunshine:
Cost Per Rental Period - $36.99 maximum weekly fee Pass 24® must be sold for the length of the rental contract. It cannot be purchased only on certain days. Pass 24 ® is a duration-based model and provides unlimited toll road access for a low daily fee per the length of the rental agreement.

I might be misunderstanding that quote but it does seem that the $36.99 maximum fee is per week and not per 2-week period, might want to verify that price before you decide on Dollar as it could work out to be $73.98?

Just tried adummy booking on Dollar.com, added Pass24 for 2 weeks and it added estimated costs of $97.86:confused3

They might well of changed their pricing but don't just rely on a phone call, make sure you have it in writing, an e-mail or can find it on a web site before you make the booking.

It wouldn't be the first time that you get told one thing by a Car Rental Agent and then you end up with a larger bill at the end of the rental.

When you get time check out some of the many consumer complaints on Dollar at ..... http://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/dollar.htm

Thanks for this... :thumbsup2

I decided to follow it up with Dollar & yes as i thought they would not confirm in writing or email what the local pickup point confirmed to me on the phone and stated there policy as per website $36.99 per week. So I have now cancelled with them as I'm not going to pay more than I need to for the car hire and then get stung on the tolls charges also. Esp after reading some of there complaints!! :scared1:

Thanks for help Wayne I have now cancelled with dollar, Re booked with the deal you started the post off with and got a great deal £225 fully inclusive rate on a SUV for 14 days, I was originally paying £263 for a intermediate car with Dollar so I'm very happy and also Alamo's toll system is a lot more clearer :thumbsup2
