Any one else going and renting a car at mco?

using codes, nothing works, is it a blackout week?

YIKES. THANKS

Just because it is the busiest week of the year at both WDW and USF ...

If you can get a rental from any company for that period it will be full rate.

We will be at WDW December 26 to January 5 and the price of rental cars has been insane! We need a full size and for many months it didn't go under $100 a DAY! It's recently gone down to about $55 a day, which I think is still high.

My best suggestion is to check Hotwire.com. I always book through them, and unlike their hotel reservations, you do not pay until you return the car at the end of your trip. You can cancel and rebook numerous times with no penalty. And if you click on "watch this trip" they will email you whenever there is a price decrease. Back in July they emailed me to tell me of a price decrease that only lasted one day. I was able to get our rental car for our Christmas trip for a total of $338 including taxes! Considering it is back around $700 I feel very fortunate.

Just make sure you put in MCO as your pickup place because they also book cars from offsite agencies.

This advice could end in disaster. I, too, book rental cars almost exclusively with Hotwire. If you book a car that is priced in the grey color numbers then what you are saying is true. If you take one of the cars priced in the red colored Hotwire Hot Rate price (which is what I always do), the car is prepaid and there is certainly NO CANCELING!!!

Do you think it might have something to do with it being Christmas weekend?

The busiest time of the whole year for Orlando is bound to be outrageously expensive. Have you looked into renting a car in Disney instead of at the airport? You could check rates at the car care center, Dolphin, or Buena Vista Palace near Downtown Disney. Mousesavers.com has a whole list of car rental locations that are either on or close to Disney. http://www.mousesavers.com/onedayrentals.html
