I am extremely happy. I was trying to rent a car and when I would put the insurance on it the price would be insane so I decided to call my car insurance company and ask them if we would be covered if we rented a car and they said yes we are covered so there is no need to get the insurance and raise the price .so I would say if your not sure call your insurance and ask.

Between the coverage provided by your auto insurance and your credit card, you can safely decline all coverage. The rental agent may try to intimidate you or raise doubts in your mind...stand firm.

Most insurance companies will insure rental cars in the United States. Make sure to ask your insurance company if you are ever trying to rent a car in Mexico or Canada or basically anywhere you cross an ocean to get to. My company will only insure 50 miles into Mexico or Canada and not anywhere overseas.

Most of us have adequate coverage through our personal auto policy and credit card.

You need to check. Coverage through your personal auto policy varies by state and sometimes by carrier.

As we have a new insurance carrier, I called my agent before leaving on a recent trip and he reassured me that we had coverage, even for loss of use. Then I double-checked my credit card agreement, and they are happy to be the second coverage. When I rented the car at Alamo, the agent tried to muscle me into getting their insurance. "We'll go after YOU. You won't have coverage and will have to pay the deductible. Ohio has something called loss of use and you won't be covered." I just let him go on with his spiel, then said, "No, thank you," and we were on our way!

I didn't even think to ask my credit card i will do that tomorrow. When I would put the insurance on the cars through the company the price would sky rocket so high I said I would rather walk so I saw on the boards here that some have checked their insurance companies and they were covered so I did the same I love this board they have helped me so much thanks to all.

Make sure your coverage includes lost rental time. That would be the time that the car is out of service while it's being repaired. Most car insurance companies and/or credit card companies include the coverage. :thumbsup2
