Car rental ideas needed for split stay in May

I'm trying to think through my scenario and options, I figured the transportation experts may have some ideas for me!

Here are the details of the trip. We land at MCO 5/23, stay at OKW 5/23 - 5/27 and then head to Disney's Vero Beach resort from 5/27-5/31. Depart MCO 5/31 late at 8:00 PM. We obviously need a rental car for the second leg of our trip to drive to Vero Beach.

Would you pick one of these choices for the car or does anyone have other ideas?

1) Pick up car from MCO and keep it while on Disney property even though not being used. Note: we don't really drive a car much (if any) while at OKW, but we could park it outside the villa until we head to Vero. I don't know if it's really worthwhile to pay for a car when not in use until we travel to the beach. But having said that, I'm willing to trade reasonable rental car pricing for convenience if it's easier to pick up at MCO than get a car while on Disney property.

2) Reserve a car at the Dolphin on 5/27 and return it to MCO on 5/31.
DH has a business discount with National and I believe National has a branch at the Dolphin.

Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Tabatha

If the price was right I would rent the car. I love having the convince and often the cost is very affordable. The second option to book yourself back to MCO on ME and get a car for the few days you need it.

The OP will be returning to MCO from Vero Beach. I don't think ME operates between Vero and MCO.

I think the idea was utilize ME from MCO to OKW, Disney transportation on site, ME from OKW to MCO, then rental car from MCO -> Vero -> MCO.

OP, those are your three options...
1) Rental car entire time.
2) Rental car from Disney & return to MCO
3) Rental car from MCO (or other location) after Disney trip and return to MCO

Run the prices on all three options. In April, run the prices again. In May, run the prices again.

I'd recommend you get the rental car in Disney World if you don't need it during your Disney days (but check the prices for both options, just in case!)

I've heard nothing negative about car rentals from the Dolphin, but I'd HIGHLY recommend the Disney Car Care Center for your rental car. The CCC offers National and Alamo rentals, and is very conveniently located just off of World Drive and south of the Magic Kingdom parking lot. You can request a shuttle to come and get you from your resort or you may take a taxi to the rental center. I thought the CCC was super easy (and speedy!) and I would use them again in a heartbeat! Highly, highly recommended! :thumbsup2
