Car Rental from Sanford

Does anyone have any tips for renting a car from the Sanford airport? The rates seem so high at this airport, just wondered if there were any other options that are close?

I've always been able to get fairly decent rates at Sanford. It all depends on when you're going and how far in advance you're booking. I don't know of any other options nearby.....Sanford is kind of out in the boonies.

Maybe I just need to wait a little bit. We're going Nov 6-14, and I can't find much under $250.

We fly Allegiant into Sanford and stay at Windsor Hills, much more bang for our Buck to travel.
To find a rental I first register at Thrift and Orbitz, can't remember if I did any other sites last time.
With thrifty I have the member Blue Chip code, I use the AAA cooperate code and add the one from the Orlando area for KISS or HUGG.

I'll feel out the prices, midweek I found a decent live able price on a Mid size car. Over time I kept watching back, soon the mid and smaller cars were high and a mini van dropped to $306 in full for a week. It was about $60 more than the mid size, but I grabbed it.

So make a ressie that is cancelable without fees, then keep watching. Usually three weeks out I found my best price.i may pay $50 more for the car at Sanford, but it's penny's compared to my flight savings.

Absolutely reserve something now....the vast majority of companies allow this. Then keep looking. I usually check weekly.
I also used Priceline in May. Got a good deal when flying into Tampa.

Bidding on Priceline can be a great option in my experience. Start at 50% off the lowest rate you can find elsewhere and work your way up. Ignore suggested bids offered by Priceline.
