I will be in WDW staying at the All Star Movies from 3/5-3/12. One of those days we would like to visit Universal/IOA. Our group will consist of 5 (possibly 6) adults... is it possible to rent a car just for that one day? And is it possible that the rental car be dropped off at our hotel? We weren't planning on having a car for the whole week...

You might want to try looking into the Orlando Public Busses (Lynx). I beleve they have a stop at the All Star Resorts.

The Lynx bus stops only at TTC. And it is really only usable to get to SeaWorld. At least that's my experience. It does not stop at any WDW resort. If you want to get to Univeral you could try using the Mears shuttle. They do provide this to the different resorts. Or you can book a towncar service. I believe they usually charge about $50 r/t. But, I'm not sure what the price would be for a group of 6 or so.

I'm sure you could probably rent a car for the day. I don't know if you can get it delivered to your resort. I think the Swan or Dolphin may have car rentals on the spot tho.

At the Hilton Hotel (across the street from DTD Marketplace, 5 minutes walk) there is an AVIS counter, maybe you can ride the bus to DTD to pick up a car there.

You can also rent a car from the Car Care Center in MK. There is a shuttle that will pick you up and drop you off. Contact Alamo for the information

It is Alamo and National at the CCC. Cost usually runs around $40 for a day, intermediate car. They do have the shuttle to and from your airport, you just have to call.

Thanks for the clarification you guys. I knew someplace on-site had car rentals and was pretty sure they had some type of shuttle service but I didn't want to just make a wrong guess!!! Nothing worse than wrong info!!

disney and national/alamo make it VERY easy to rent a car while on-site... we just called at 8am, they had the shuttle there at 8:15 and dh was back w/the car at 8:45 ready to pick us up... for drop off it's even easier... just go to the dolphin valet parker and drop off the car and either hop on disney transport to a park or ask for the shuttle to bring you to your resort... easy as can be! :)
