Car rental at Disney resort?

I'm just wondering if there is a car rental facility at the resort.

Just thinking about next year's vacation:

We'll be flying into MCO, then going to Fort Myers for 2 weeks. Then going to 3 day cruise. Then going to SSR for 3 days. Then flying out of MCO.

My idea is that if the ME is still being offered, we can book ME to drop us off at Disney (maybe do one night at SSR before going to Fort Myers, depending when we get in) then pick up a rental, then do our trip, and then be able to return the car at SSR at the end of the trip and take the ME back to the airport. My biggest pet peeve is paying the 9% airport fee when picking up a car at the airport.

So, anyone know if I can rent a car at Disney?

Alamo/National has a desk at Swan/Dolphin and car care center. Avis has a desk at the DTD Hilton. Avis will pick you up and drop you off, or since you're at SSR it's not far to walk to the Hilton.

You can also rent from Alamo/National at the Disney car care center on property, and they have a shuttle service to pick you up.

Budget is at The Doubletree Hotel on Hotel Plaza Blvd. In Downtown disney. They will also pick you up at the resort.

We stayed at VWL in Oct and used ME. ME was great by the way. My mother in law wanted to visit friends in the area for one day. We made a revation in advance with National. They will pick you up and bring you back to your hotel. It worked great. In fact I think for our next trip we might keep the car for half of the trip and use it for some on site and off site activities. The bus driver for National told me that they have been a lot more busy since ME has started. Good Luck!

If the airport tax is your main 'peeve', you'll want to check rates for both the airport location and WDW locations. Last time I checked on car rental rates (which admittedly has been awhile), the airport location rate was cheaper, and that just about cancelled out the airport tax.

We were there over Christmas and were screwed over by Alamo (will NEVER!! EVER deal with them again). Ended up using Budget at the Doubletree as Nezy said, got a last minute car, no hassles, no problems, cheapest rate in the area at that time. Would use them again in a heartbeat!! Also used ME almost doing the same thing you are, worked out just fine. :sunny:
