Anyone have any idea how much an rotation and balance would cost on a fullsize car?

My Taurus is shaking so badly in the front end. The tires are ok, I COULD replace the front ones but they don't NEED it. I am thinking that a rotation and balance could help it out. I don't have any idea about the cost though.

The front and back tires don't match, we bought the car that way. The rears have about 30K on them and the front have about 40K on them. I could buy new front tires to match the rears and rotate them.

I am trying to figure out the most economical way to deal with it immediately and then get new tires in a few months!!

We have our tires balanced and rotated every 3k miles at Discount Tires for free.

30-40K on any pair of tires is a lot of miles. You may need tires and a realignment. My car is an '03 with 30K miles and DH just put new tires all around - and my tires are switched out with studded snows from November-April!

Instead of just telling them what you want done, you may want to explain the problem and have them look at it to see what you need. It could be something more severe like a bent axle or something that rotation/balancing won't make a difference on.
