We are going to Orlando for three weeks in August and wondered if there was a cheaper way of parking at Disney than paying daily?
Does anyone know of a monthly pass etc that could save us paying the daily rate?
Thanks in advance..

Free for Annual pass holders and onsite guests.
No discounts for offsite I know of.
Depending how many days of parking it can be worth one member of your party buying an Annual pass instead of a regular ticket.

Can you please give us a ballpark figure for the current price for an Annual Pass, Wayne, if you happen to know off the top of your head. Cheers :-)

You can always park for free at the Boardwalk or Downtown Disney and use the free shuttle buses to your destination. Unless this has been stopped now? Not been since 2006. Anyone else do/done this?

You can not park for free at Boardwalk - the car park there is hotel guests everyone else is given a 3 hour parking permit after which they can tow you.

To get from DTD to the parks would mean taking a bus to a resort and then another bus to the park. You are looking at about an hour each way. I am sorry but if you are THAT desperate to save $12 maybe WDW is not the right holiday destination.

Easy Elise79.
Not everyuone thinks that $12 per day is an acceptable cost.
Disney is for all people, whether on a fixed budget, or no budget the sky's the limit.
Not nice.

And the car parks at DTD are for people using the facilities at DTD. Finding a parking space can be a nightmare at the best of times without spaces being taken up by those avoiding the parking charges at the parks.

I understand what you are saying Obi but I'm with Elise on this one.

EDIT: Just to add, I know the OP was looking to pay a reduced rate rather than looking to avoid the parking fees altogether.

Wicksey,
there are plenty of places at DTD behind Cirque de soleil and around the corner.
I have never had a problem finding a parking place there, sure not outside the exact shop i want, but the excersise does me good! :rotfl:
Everyone who goes to Disney is paying exhorbatant rates for everything, hence people buying into the dining plans, 14 days for 10 days tickets etc.
Disney should have a weekly car parking ticket for those not on annual passes or having the audacity to stay off site (Tounge in cheek about audacity there!)
This can be a massive extra charge for those on limited budgets who also are going for the first and possibly only time.

I need the excercise too. ;) The point remains though that if we want to have a wander around Marketplace, or even visit one specific shop we shouldn't need to walk all the way down from Cirque and then all the way back again when we are done.

I agree with you and I can't understand why they don't do it, or even have a premium option on the MYW tickets that includes parking for the period of the ticket.

We bought one AP for our 3 week trip precisely for the benefit of free parking as we are staying off site :)

I don't think $12 is particularly unreasonable, you'd pay that and possibly more in many UK city centres. I appreciate that for a 2 or 3 week trip the cost adds up in one visits WDW every day but so do a lot of things related to driving... I pay £2.80 a day in tunnel tolls for my daily commute and it adds up a LOT but I choose to drive hence I choose to pay it.

Again, it all depends on your daily life and where you live.
I am sure people who live within the congestion charge area in London for example would find it not unreasonable.

I live in a town with no car parking charges, (in fact we fought a campaign to make sure we did not) no parking meters, no tolls on any road near me and do not venture into city centres where I can help it, so I have a different view on paying what I believe should be part of the ticket price anyway.

I didn't mean to offend but when I want to go shopping at DTD I like to park reasonably close to the part I want to visit and do not want to be carrying all the shopping back all the way to Westside because people are trying to park for free.

If you are visiting and staying offsite it should be part of your budget just like park tickets and food.

To the orginal poster I am aware that you would like reduced parking and Wayne has already provided details of annual passes for you :goodvibes

I am going to back away from this thread now as I was only trying to point out what one other poster said was wrong and I thought the boards had a policy of not allowing ways to circumvent Disneys rules.

I'm with you Elsie, as much as I hate paying the parking fee, its not fair to those at DTD-especially as I always have a load of shopping:rotfl:

I agree with you entirely.
But you are bound to meet people with opposing views on these boards.
I think the WDW car parks are great value for money and that Virgin Upper Class is exorbitant. Others think the opposite.
Hey ho, such is life.

It has, and I considered closing the thread when I saw the way it was going but as I am 100% certain you should not be parking at any resort for the theme parks I am not sure of DTD's rules. Are there any signs at DTD or rules on their website to say its not allowed? I believe there is a 3 hour rule at DTD at Disneyland CA, is it same in Orlando?
Although its not something I would do (I think its worth $20 to park compared to the bus route from DTD) I am not sure its not allowed, even though its frowned upon by many.
Its a free car park and use of Disney busses are included in your park ticket. Anyone seen signs or a website to say any different?

As somebody already pointed out, you cannot get a bus from DTD to the parks, only to resorts.

But nothing to stop you getting a bus from the resorts to a park. As I said its totally not worth the hassle to me but is it against Disneys rules?

The wording on the Disney website is saying it is allowed. Here it is

Transportation to and from the Downtown Disney area is available via bus throughout Walt Disney World Resort and is complimentary for Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guests. For Park Guests choosing to drive, complimentary self-parking is also available.

Sorry no I just re-read that, Now I read it as for hotel guests only, now I am even more confused.

I've never seen any signs saying you can't park there and visit the parks but I would say that as there is no direct bus service it is "actively discouraged".
