Car parking etiquette

It never fails, every time I drive by the local dry cleaners, there's always a car parked directly in front of the door--in the fire zone. There are always PLENTY of parking spots 30 feet away in the parking lot. But, for some reason, people feel the need to be lazy and park illegally. Why do they do this. It really irks me. I don't go there very often, but when I do I always park in a space, even if I have my toddler with me. I also see this at the chinese restaurant. Why is it that just because people are just picking something up or dropping off, they don't feel the need to actually park. I've seen cars "parked" there for more than 5 minutes. Is it really going to kill someone to spend 30 more seconds to walk 30 more feet? Does this bother anyone else.

Yup it bothers me also. Especially when a car is parked right in front of a business but they are parked waiting for a person that went into the store and is in the lane of ongoing traffic so everyone has to go around that car. But the driver acts like they aren't doing anything wrong  beep beep move your car buddy.

Bugs me to no end. Funny you mention this subject since one of my condo board members just parked her car in an area with a big sign saying "No Parking Any Time". I was ready to yell down to her "get that car out of there, can't you read!"

:p

At one local grocery store it's common for the husbands to drop their wives off at the door and then wait for them, in the Fire Lane of course. I always call them the "Royalty", they're only missing the red carpet and the trumpet welcome.

What really irks me are the people who go to the gym and park their cars as close to the door as possible, sometimes right at the door itself. If you are going to the GYM to WORK OUT why would you need to park your car at the door?

Bugs me too. I have had my husband drop me off at the door and they he will leave the entrance and wait down an aisle until he sees me come out. Sometimes he doesnt see me & I call him on the cell phone.

Parking is prohibited on the street on the side where my house is. There is a telephone pole in front of my house with a sign "no parking this side, fire lane". My neighbor has guests who frequently ignore the sign and park partly on the sidewalk, making it difficult for me to make a left turn out of my driveway. Last week, they had some guys doing work on the house and they parked a car on the sidewalk. A little later I look out and there's a police car parked. I thought he was going to check if they had proper building permits for the work they were doing. No, he ticketed them for parking on this side. Yes!!!!! :p

I always like to park a really good distance from the door so I can get a little exercise in by walking. I also hate it when you think you find a good space and then when you get close to it you see that one of the cars around the empty space is actually about half way over into the space. I hope that sounds right.
