I currently have Amica, I just made my final payment for my current policy. I noticed that they automatically renewed my policy, but it went up $268.

I haven't had any accidents, claims, always paid bill on time, no tickets, etc. I'm unsure as to why and how they increased my policy this much more. Is this type of increase typical?

Please recommend some other companies so that I can call around for a cheaper quotes. Thanks:)

We just switched to Liberty Mutual it's saving us 100.00 a month.

Looking for ins can drive you nutty

We used to have AAA and they had the best price until we added DD (now 18). We recently switched from Progressive to Liberty Mutual. They were about $300+ a year less on auto and $700 less than Allstate on our home. I have no experience with their claims service but setting up the policies was extremely easy.

OP you need to call and see what is up. Sometimes there can be an error.

My mom had an issue where one of my brothers was being reported as being at her address. He does not live with her and has not for a long time - he lives in a completely different state. She had to exclude him from the policy because that caused her policy premium to skyrocket.

Shop around too, but call the company and ask what is up.

Switched to Liberty Mutual in 2010, now actively looking to get out as our homeowners renewal jumped 70% from $775 a year to $1280. It has now nearly tripled in 3 years. I hope it's not a case of low rates to get you in and then rapid increases thinking you won't notice, but it sure seems like it.

Our auto policy has been around the same all 3 years.

We are going back to Allstate, saving over $400 on the new rate at LM and paying about $12 more for the auto.

I have always had state farm; no other insurance has been able to touch our rates!

We just switched to Amica. They don't have the lowest rates, but they are consistently either the best or second best with regard to service, and none of their competitors are so consistently at the top of each set of reviews.

Liberty mutual was least expensive for toyota here. Not sure on services from them yet. GL!

We've had Geico for over 20 years. We currently have 3 cars on the policy--one new, one new-ish and a 2003. Its about $100 per month. Service has always been excellent--hence the 20+ years of staying with them.

Although I did recently sit down and figure out that I have paid them well over $21,000 during the years and just one hit-n-run claim 18 years ago. I think they owe me a new car, just because! :joker:

If you are eligible, USAA is one of the best in customer service and rates. We've had them for almost 30 years and no issues (1 claim and 2 tickets).

I second USAA I don't think you have to be a military member any more to use it i think it is open to everyone.

Same here. I just made some calls last week for quotes because ours went up a bit, but State Farm's new rate is still only half of everyone else's. AAA is the highest quote I get every time I call around.

Only the banking is open to all. You have to be a military member or dependent to get the insurance and other services still.

No, we wouldn't be. Thanks so much for everyone's responses, I really hate having to switch, but I hope I can get a cheaper rate. I did see my insurance score is 878, which is good so I hope I can get something cheaper.

Been with State Farm since 1981 and every now and then I check rates online. No one can beat my rates. I've had no claims and no tickets the entire time. That plus the longevity discounts I have. I have two college age kids on my policies too.

we just switched to AAA from progressive - for us AAA was by far the best rate.

We also switched our home insurance to them and all together cut our insurance bill by 50%! :cool1:

You are only paying $100 a month to insure three vehicles? Are they not covered with collision? Do you have a huge deductible? We pay $1200 a year just for one vehicle (08 Aspen) (that bill just came in the mail which is why I mention that one). We insure two other vehicles 91 Wrangler and 01 Caravan, and also have our homeowners with State Farm.

I switched to AAA last feb. they saved me appox 30.00/mo
I have a 03 SAturn Vue and Dh's pos Ford Taurus with lib. only. I believe when I originally got quote it was my 03 Saturn and Dh's 99 Saturn.

I personally haven't priced out state farm but when my Dh claims to have done it he said they were higher than most others he priced out.

My dad also said State farm came back High for him.
I might just price it to see what I get doing it.

Just wanted to update. I called Amica today about the increase and was told that our state has a 20% increase this year, every state had different amounts depending on a lot of factors.

If anyone else has Amica, don't be surprised if your rates go up. I will be shopping around.
