I don't know if anyone has done this before..........

We want to hire a car for a few days so we can go shopping. Used Mears when we were there in April and it was a nightmare they left us stranded at Florida Mall and thankfully a taxi driver took pity on us. I do not want to go through that with then again and tbh I dont want to give them my money!

My problem is that my other half is 24 and we dont want to pay the daily surcharge for being under 25 for the entire fortnight!!

Does anyone know anything about hiring for a few days? Where do you have to pick the car up from? Will the bring it to your resort?

Any help appreciated! :flower:

If you are staying onsite in Disney you can hire cars from the Car Care Centre (near MK) and from the Dolphin resort. I believe they will pick you up from your resort to collect the car and then drop you back after returning the car :)

The rental company used to be National.

:sad2: If you are staying on International Drive I believe that Dollar have offices! near there, as for the under 25 surcharge, unfortunatly I am WELL past that age :sad2: and therefore know nothing about it but I am sure that some DISer out there will be able to answer the question. Good luck.

thanks for the replies!

We are staying on property. Not bothered about paying the surcharge for a couple of days just so we can shop, Mears are not that cheap anyway so hopefully it will balance out! I think its 20-25 dollars surcharge a day which is why we couldnt manage for 14 days!

DS (22) and his GF were there a few weeks back and wanted to hire a car for a day to do some shopping around...the cheapest they were quoted was $50 for the day!!! Needless to say, they didn't bother!

we spent over $100 dollars on Mears transfers in April so $100 for 2 days with a car meaning we are not tied to only being in one place I can probably manage. I just dont want to have to take taxi's miles out to pick it up which is why I was hoping I could do it within disney.

I just checked Airline Network's site for you: www.airline-network.co.uk. They use Dollar who have a desk and cars available at the Grosvenor hotel, LBV (across the road from Downtown Disney marketplace). The cost for 3 days in the cheapest car is £59 fully inclusive (£40 for 2 days) but the under-25 supplement is paid directly to Dollar. The last time I asked about it for DS it was $20 a day but that was a while ago.

I am sure that Disney have their own preferred hire car partner on property somewhere, but you may still find it cheaper and more reassuring as far as being fully inclusive of taxes and insurance, to pre-pay in the UK.

thank you so much for your help! I have walked out from disney market place before so that sounds like it would be perfect. :Pinkbounc
