Can anyone give me rough daily budget for car hire and petrol? We'd just be looking for a standard car nothing to big.

Price of car hire varies quite a bit with dates.
Today Holiday Autos have a sale on USA rentals, just checked random dates that fall within the sale and a small car works out at £12.61/day less 10% Quidco = £11.35/day. Personally I prefer something a bit bigger, usually at least Full Size, same dates work out at £14.38/day after cashback.

Gas is $3.59/gal just now www.orlandogasprices.com (search zip 32830) = £2.13/gal.

Actually, Wayne, it is nearer £2.60 per Imperial (UK) gallon as the US gallon is about a fifth smaller than ours.

I agree, that's fact but you are buying a US gallon, I never inferred a UK gallon.

Sorry I just re-read my post, I only put price in £'s as a guide to cost not as a conversion to UK gallon.
