I can't do pictures for some reason, but we had a Chrysler, dh swears it was an HHR..looked like it had the chassis of a PT Cruiser but had a 'jeep' look about it.
We got ours through Alamo at Miami Airport. Were most surprised to be shown to a whole row of 'intermediate' cars and told to take our pick of whichever one we wanted. Felt really weird peeking around all of the cars and seeing what looked like it had the best luggage space, and then just getting in one and driving off! Is that the 'norm' for US Car Hire?
Anyways, we could fit 3 cases in the boot easily, our 3 hand luggage rucksacks sat nicely in the rear footwells and on the return journey to the airport we were able to squeeze the luggage mentioned above (with all 3 cases 'expanded' to the limit!) as well as 2 large and extremely full holdalls.
Hubby did all of the driving and said that on long straight roads like the turnpike it was lovely to be able to set it on cruise control and eat away at the miles, but driving in and around Orlando it was apparently 'like a brick' to drive. I have to admit that it was pretty bumpy and I found the road noise quite distracting after a while, I was constantly checking the windows to make sure they were all done up!
Having said that, it cost under $20 for a full tank of fuel and gave us aroudn 500 miles on a full tank, so can't and won't grumble! We had the car for 17 nights and drove from Miami to Orlando, all around Orlando and then back to Miami and spent less that $40 on fuel. That's got to be something right?
