Hi,

My problem is that I have been waiting over 4 months to book this trip and now my car hire quote has gone up by over £60, and that is if I book today. DH has set his mind on a certain class of car for comfort reasons, but as my eldest DD has now decided she is coming with us after all we can't get a smaller, cheaper car, as there will now be 2 adults and two older teenagers.

I am waiting for DLP to give availability to DVC so I can book my trip for the week of 22nd November, as that is when DH is allowed time off of work.

I need a car hire company that allows you to take the car out of the UK, and also provides cover for it abroad. The only one I have had any luck with is National, but every time I ring, and get the Polish call centre, the price goes up.

Can anyone recommend a car hire company that covers you for driving a car from the UK to DLP? I am in the West Midlands, between Birmingham and Wolverhampton.

Thanks.

Avis will allow you to take them out of the UK for an additional premium, which is pretty standard practise with car hire companies. Have you rang a few up to get quotes as for example Enterprise will allow you to take it abroad as long as you have their written permission, but it doesn't particularly show this information on the web site. (They have to provide you with a dvla form to show that you have permission to drive the vehicle on hire - you need to take that with your docs such as driving licence etc to be able to show to police if stopped)

Thanks for your help:goodvibes

It was Avis I thought I was ringing when I got the National call centre in Poland. I was told that it is all the same now, so they gave me a quote from National.:confused3

We use Enterprise all the time, but last time we asked about anything like this we were told they didn't allow it. I'll ring them now and ask again.:thumbsup2

Hope you have a fantastic trip.:wizard: We are trying to book our first stay in the DLH for November, so please write some form of trip report so I can read what the hotel is like to stay in, as we have only visited it before.

Ok, so I rang round some more car hire companies and got quotes, it is looking like the cheapest I can get is £312 and some pence, so I think we will have to go with that. It is not as cheap as the quotes I had originally, but I suppose it is down to how near it is getting to the date I want to pick the car up.:confused3

Oh, and I rang Enterprise, they say they don't allow any of their cars out of the country, as they don't have the right sort of insurance cover.:confused3

Here's hoping that I won't have to cancel the car, and we get to take our DLP trip.:goodvibes
