We land at MCO on 29th December, i was thinking that i might not get the car hire from the airport and just get a taxi to Homewood suites on I drive, it will save me a days car hire for the price of a short taxi ride, i could collect hire car from office on i drive the next morning, it isn't really the cost, i thought it would save a little time, what does everyone think?

oh and here is a little picture

Interesting thought, personally for an extra say 30/45 minutes I would rather collect from the airport knowing we then had the car and could start to enjoy the holiday.
The only times I have never picked up the car on the same day has been when we stayed at the Hyatt MCO the first night, I have found that they tend to have more vehicles 'at the ready' after the long haul international flights arrive in the afternoon.
On collecting the next morning we wanted a specific car on this occasion and they only had 1 which needed a valet before they could pass onto us.

To be honest I would collect from the airport.

We decided that we needed another car after a couple of days (due to having a dissaggreement with others in the party) anyway DH called Alamo and we were able to collect another from the Magic Kingdom car care centre which was very easy indeed. I don't know if I would get a taxi to the accomodation and then get the car the next day though, I would rather just get it all out of the way so I could start enjoying the magic!

i would pre order the car so that it would be ready, i was thinking it might get us out of the airport quicker.

No way for me, pick up car from airport from the start.
A 1 way taxi from MCO to Idrive costs around $45 + tip, might get a little cheaper.

An extra days rental will cost from £17.25 for a full size car with platinum cover at USrentacar
Picking car up from Dollar adds about 10-15 mins at airport for us with Express card.
1st day we are ready for parks at opening, I would not want to take time out messing with car hire that day.
Both cost and convenience airport IMHO.

We waited ann hour and a half at mco last time for our car! blooming pain in the backside, we had nothing booked so we could and did pick the smallest queue out of all the rental companys!
I think you can put your details in beofre and it is slightly quicker, it is just the 20 folk in front of you!

Thats why I like Dollar, just register on their website free for Express card and walk right to the front, Easter we had one family in front of us, all other times no line.
How much did you have to pay without prebooking? My Brother did it last year cost about double UK price.

Good point wayne, i didn,t think a taxi would be that dear from the airport, i also forgat i had the dollar express card so can use that line, think i will do that.
