Does anyone know if car hire firms are on or off site at Sanford and are there any to steer clear of.

 thanks
:drive:

hi, when you come out of sanford airport main entrance walk across the pedestrian walkway and the building facing you has Dollar car hire in the left side and the Alamo building is a wee bit further out on the right hand side, sort of like a kiosk but still within the airport. Have used both and they were both fine. At the Dollar area you walk past all the cars first to get there so you can see what cars they have, so if there are only people carriers you will know beforehand when they try to upsell you....

Only been to Sanford once and it was a few years ago so not much experience, although Dollar is my favorite rental company I found them poor at Sanford, probably just a bad agent I got as you can get with all rental companies. Just go for the cheapest, they all have good and bad agents, good and bad days.
List from airport site.

Ive only flown into Sanford and always used Dollar, I generally dont encounter bad agents as they see when they put my details in that I have been with them for some years and I dont get the hard sell.

We've used budget twice at Sandford. There is also thrifty and National.

We have recently booked Dollar through netflights as ppl on here said they were onsight and they were a good price for what we wanted. I shall report back when we return in May to say whether they were any good.

We usually deal with Alamo at Sanford which is a little bit a treck if u have all ur luggage and never had any problems with them.
Although same to be said for Dollar, they have always been pretty really good.
We had a wait of about half an hour as a family was from what we can tell, was in the process of being ripped off by getting swamped with upgrades, insurances and pre paid tolls.
As soon as we got to the desk licenses, signatures, done in 5 mins, so cn't complain too much

Most of the major companies like alamo, dollar and budget are on site at Sanford and in my experience they all tend to do a pretty good job (mostly) :D

Cheers

Arnie
