Car Hire - am I missing something?

Just playing around with dates for a proposed trip to WDW in December.

Looking at car hire for 20 nights (11th to 31st December) - at an Intermediate 4WD (Ford Escape) and prices on the VA site are coming up at 408.00 with Alamo. On Alamo's site - the same car is 512.00 I think they are both for gold rates - I don't think the platinum car hire is worth it for a free tank of petrol.

Has anybody booked with VA? It seems a big difference for the same car, am I overlooking something here?

Also, with Alamo can you pre-register?

For SUV's people are getting very good prices from Florida Escapes but your dates are not available yet, they are quoting from around £18/day they are also with Alamo.

Don't be surprised an agent selling cheaper than direct, it happens with both car rental and hotels all the time.

I think there is a pre reg with Alamo but I have never looked into it, never had a problem collecting quickly from Alamo.

Have you tried to look on Alamo through the Disney site? It's slightly cheaper and you get a second driver for free

Not sure how you are getting it slightly cheaper OP dates are showing £512.97 for me, she can get it for £408.

They are really expensive for what I am looking for (7 seater, 18 nights) £709.30, can get it for £507 elswhere with tank of gas and 3 extra drivers.

Can't see where it says taxes & fees are not included.

Clearly says they are included.

I know alamo do a priority club like dollar - DH is a member.

Not used alamo for a few years sonot certain if they do pre registration - i'd imagine they do.

Yes doesn't seem a bad price with VA - can also get GPS for a reduced rate at the minute. I only need 1 driver so don't think the Disney site will be cheaper on that score.
