Car contents insurance - HELP!

Hi

We have a minivan hired for 15 days as we drive around California. We took out all the insurance stuff for CDW, etc but I know Alamo have an extra insurance that covers things like 'lost keys' etc that is an optional daily charge. As we are travelling around we will obviously not be leaving our luggage in the car overnight but there will be times during the day where we have too. Most of the time we'll be within sight of the car but there are a couple of occasions where we will park the car in a parking garage or at a tourist site as we are driving between cities (locked naturally). We're hoping to get a minivan with dark windows at the back and obviously will not be leaving things on display any more than we have too but I just checked and travel insurance doesn't cover the car (nor locked hotel rooms apparently). As I say, I know Alamo do a 'so much per day' extra insurance which I THINK covers contents but….do you do this or take out an alternative insurance or not worry? Help!

Thanks

I go through our own insurance. I pay an extra 25 a month for a rental car. I would call your insurance and see what they cover.

Thanks. I'm in the UK so not sure they'd offer it but I'll check. Thank you

I am not sure about the Alamo coverage but contents are actually covered under homeowners or renters insurance and not your auto insurance.

Thank you. I called Alamo la directly and it's only about $5 a day for protection. Between the 5 of us that's nothing x
