Car color - did you get what you wanted or settle on something else?

I got exactly the color I wanted. I'm tough to deal with when I buy a new car because I want what I want. And - I even got running boards and a sunroof for free!

We traded our silver van in on an Acadia a year ago. I really, really wanted the gold or Blue-gold color. All the dealer had was burgundy, black, and silver with the options we wanted. I chose the silver, but I really didn't want another silver vehicle. However, I now LOVE it. It hides dirt and any scratches really well and it looks great with the chrome accents and the shiny rims. I don't care for black, green, or burgundy/red vehicle colors...I would look elsewhere for the car or order one if those were the only options available on the lot.

Dh wanted Blue.. BRIGHT honking BLUE! It is a gorgeous color, and he would have gone to a completely different car type just to get it. We emailed the dealership and found that they only made the car we were looking at in the color we wanted as a special edition... Only 1500 of them were made. He wanted it, and we got it. Its a great car!!!

When I bought my car at an end-of-model-year clearance, they only had two of the model I wanted left. One was blue-plastic-tarp blue and the other was forest green.

I took the green.

I buy my cars new, so I normally pick out the color and options I like. This last car was such a hot ticket last spring that I grabbed the one with all the options I wanted, because it happened to be one of the 3 colors I would have accepted. Light metallic blue. Love it now.

I voted OTHER. I didn't particularly have a color in mind when I went looking. WHen I learned that my dealership did not have the model car I wanted in stock and that I would have to get it sent in from another dealer - I originally picked black. It came down to a black one, with less options in KY with more miles, and a silver one with more options in MS with less miles. MS is closer - less miles - more options -- I'm driving the silver - which turned out better for me -- I'm not that great about keeping up with car washes.

For the most part, I couldn't care less about the color. I'm not wild about black or white, but if I got a good deal on the car, it wouldn't matter.

Yup, got the color I was looking for...dark gray. It's official name at the dealership is "graphite." But somewhere someone over there made a mistake or is color blind when it came to the paperwork. My registration says it is silver. It is NOT silver.

Gray didn't show up in that article. I guess those of us with gray cars aren't worth mentioning.

My car is red! I LOVE it! It's not bright red, but not dark either....I guess somewhere in between. My last car was a gold/tan, and the color was just blah to me. It was not a new car but I was sooooooo happy that I could find it used in the color I wanted! It's a Ford Escape.

I just couldn't care less what the car looks like or what color it is. To me, it is just a way to get where I'm going.

If it is comfortable to sit in with long legs, it is fine. Show me where the wiper fluid goes and give me the keys. Oh, and next time I want an iPod thingy, too.

The first car I bought, I wanted blue and got it. It was totaled, while parked, three months later.

I went to buy a new one to replace it, I wanted blue. Dodge had a really cheap brand spanking new Shadow in red - I got red.

I drove that one for 5 or 6 years, then got married and pregnant and needed a new car. I wanted blue. Got a great deal on a Dodge Stratus - in silver.

When we went to buy our minivan I wanted blue!! Gosh darnit - BLUE! I drove around town to get the best deal. When I finished the negotiations, they told me they only had the options I wanted in white and silver. Settling for another silver car was depressing, so we got white.

My next car will be blue, blue, blue. As God is my witness I will not get a not-blue color next time!

I'll take any color so long as it is WHITE. I love white cars in Texas. They reflect heat and stay cooler than other cars. They don't show dirt as much, as counterintuitive as that seems. But mainly, I just like the look. I steer DH toward white as well.

I only owned blue or green Hondas. My first car was light blue; my second one was a nice deep green, and my new Civic is dark blue. I guess I alternate between the two colors. I have no desire to own a silver or white car - I like a tad of color.

When I was looking for my newest car, I bought it very quickly because it was the exact shade of blue I was looking for, and a stick shift, and I wasn't sure I would find that combination again!

The color was what made me walk over to my car when it was on the lot -- lovely, vibrant cobalt blue.

i wanted a light green color (moss) that was the color of my first mini van but I found a cant pass up deal on the one I have now 13,800.00 with 900 miles on it (someone drove it to the lot from out of town) it was a great deal its a 2006 dodge grand caravan ....it is a gold tan color.I even had them throw in window tint for FREE...I just told them " all those windows, no tint? its florida no way" they had them tinted.

I have settled for my last 2 cars which were red. I don't like red cars unless its a Ferrari (slightly out of my price range ) But as the cars I wanted in my price range were red I had to settle.

I wanted black but when I talked with other people that had black they hated their black cars. The road salt, sand, etc does a number on the finish and it shows minor scratches too easily so I decided against black. We had a champagne colored car and it was great for hiding dirt, etc. We picked a goldish one this time for that same reason. Our other car is white, my last choice in MN, in the snow. It isn't very visible. It is a pearl white and looks nice. I get more concerned about the interior--I prefer a dark interior--hides the dirt better . The white car has a dark, dark grey interior. The gold car has a tan interior that while I like the look, hate that it shows everything!

I just bought a used PT Cruiser from CarMax. They had a color I was OK with (ivory) at the lot near my house, and a color I really liked (blue) that could be shipped in from another lot. I decided to wait for the blue, and I'm really happy with it.

I wanted red, but the red the dealer had that year was sort of a fire-engine red and since I was buying an Explorer, I thought I'd look like the fire chief driving around in it.

So I got blue. My second choice.
