I've never read any reviews on Captain's Grille. A co-worker of DH is just back from WDW and suggested it to him. He doesn't know if he should trust her taste :lmao: so I told him I'd reach out here to get more input.

We would do dinner...so any information - good, bad or othewise would be appreciated.

Thanks!

We just got back and I thought our dinner there was surprisingly good, better than when we tried it last year. I had the three course meal with the green goddess salad, crab cakes and a chocolate dessert that were all really delicious. My DH and DD also really liked their meals. I think this was my favorite TS meal food from our trip because I was not happy with CG food even though the view was fabulous, we will be skipping it in the future.

Last October our group of 6 thought this was our best meal of the trip. We had never eaten here before but found the food and the service very good. My aunt asked the waiter if there were peppers in one of the dishes she was considering for dinner and he went and got the chef from the kitchen. The chef asked about alergies etc. and assured us that he could definately accomodate the "no peppers" request. We were very pleased and will make it a stop on our next group trip.

I think the best way to pick restaurants at WDW is to look at the menu. If it appeals to you, then give it a try. People can have bad experiences almost anywhere.

We have eaten at Capt's Grille 4 times and have always enjoyed it.

DH & I tried it for the first time last year for dinner. Not even exaggerating, it was one of the worst meals of my life. I don't know if they had a bad batch of steaks that day or something wrong with the broiler, but it was terrible.

But like winterman suggested, if the menu appeals to you give it a try. We could have gone on a very off day.

Dh and I went in May 2011 and we both did not like it at all. He had the rock shrimp app,I had the crab cake. The crab cake tasted so bad I sent it back. They did give me the rock shrimp app instead which was o.k.

Also had the salad with the green goddess dressing and that was o.k.

We both had the steaks. Dh was cooked fine, I asked for medium and it was more like well and the mashed potatoes ere cold. I think that probably had something to do with me getting another app for a substitute. I think they just kept my food barely warm etc.

For dessert we had the gelato and both didnt care for that either.

We are staying at the Beach Club in December and this place is not on our list.

On the way out we saw a man who had ordered the pork chop. I saw it was barely eaten. I was considering getting this as my entree. Apparently he didnt care for it either. It just looked like a giant piece of meat just thrown on top of the plate etc.

In fairness, we have done the breakfast buffet there and it was o.k.

We went for dinner a few years ago and enjoyed it...plan on going back there next month

Yay! This means another dining review?? I LOVE your reviews :thumbsup2
We will be there as well from the 16th-24th, can't wait!!

As far as CG, we have only had lunch there, but it is always REALLY good

Captain's Grille was our favorite meal on this last trip. The market salmon was great and my kids loved the steaks. My wife and I took advantage of the fixed price menu, so we also got a crab cake appetizer which was good and a decadent turtle cheesecake for dessert.

Thanks for this post, we've been thinking about going there for a while.

Thanks everyone!!! :flower3:

I think we will go for it and give it a try... :thumbsup2

Has anyone ever had the Chef's Pasta Creation? We are thinking of going there in March. My DD usually orders the pasta, just wondering what this is. Maybe it's different everyday?? TIA :goodvibes

We ate here a few weeks ago for lunch. It was the first meal of our trip. I have to tell you that we loved it here. My daughter got the fish and chips. They were the best I have ever eaten anywhere. That was something that the waitress recommended when we asked. My husband and I got the lobster roll and it was very good as well. We will definitely go back.
