I have a ressie for both on the same day and will need to cancel one. Has anyone experienced both and have a preference?

We love Teppan Edo. DS requests if for his birthday dinner each year. I have not eaten at the Captain's Grill, but I believe it is just a "normal" everywhere in the every day world type restauarant with little or no themeing. At Teppan Edo the chef entertains you as he prepares your food at your table. The tables seat 8 so you will be seated with strangers if your party is less than 8. We find this to be fun.
You should check out the menus and see which appeals more to your family.
I would go with Teppan Edo.

I'm old and I request Teppan Edo for my or anyone in the families birthday, too: if we are at Epcot on our birthdays! I love that place. Food is good and the chefs are usually pretty funny.

If it were me...

I'd go with Teppan Edo! We had a lot of fun and a nice meal at Thanksgiving last year.

but I agree with the PP...go with the menu that looks best to you.
