Captain's Grille and Capn' Jacks - Hidden Gems

Greetings all-
Just back from 7 days at WDW and the Free DP.
Ate at Capn' Jacks at DD the first night... VERY VERY good meal. Had Crab Cakes to die for. Great service. Highly recommended.

Then we ate at Captain's Grille at Yacht Club. (also on DDP). The meal there was wonderful. It was quiet, service was excellent. Had a NY Strip steak that was perfectly cooked.

Am I the only one who thinks there is way too much food on the DDP , even if it is not the DxDP? I gained 3 lbs and we had trouble using all the credits during our stay.

I ate at Captain's Grille in August on free dining and it was great! They had the 1 lb of crab legs on the menu, which was a hit. They were fresh and plentiful.

Thanks for the info.We have 3 of our 5 TS planned so looking for suggestions
for the other 2 TS.
I am stunned by the number of desserts per day along with the snack option.We don't plan on using the desserts except in a few cases.(We got the free DDP I only order dessert a 2 or 3 times when away for a week vacation and even then share it with DH. I think it would be nice) for Disney to offer an option of soup/side salad or dessert with the meal both at QS and TS. I know if that was the case we would pay for the DDP if it wasn't free

You are not the only one who thinks there is so much food on the DDP.
We just got back last night and before we left for the airport I had 4 sandwiches wrapped up with 4 cookies to use up the 4 counter service meals we had left. I didn't get the drinks because our check-in lugguage was already checked in , besides I had about 5 bottles of drinks from prior meals packed away. The sandwiches made it home alright,so now we have Disney lunches at home. It was very hot last week, so we didn't want to eat too much. We did eat at all our TS meals, and one was Captain's Grill. Loved the crab and DH had the chicken.

Captain's Grille is a wonderful spot. Good food and service!

I am so glad to hear that everyone enjoys Captain's Grille so much. I was going to make a ADR at Yachtsman, but didn't think I should do a Signature with DD6. I will wait a few more years before taking her to a Signature. Making an ADR at Captain's Grille was my way of making a compromise. My DH is a huge steak lover, so I hope he will enjoy it!!! We will be going after spending the day at HS, so we will either walk over or take the boat. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!
