Do you think they will keep the Captain's gala and semi-formal nights the same on the Western as on the Eastern?

I'm curious about this as well. On the Eastern itinerary, the Captain's Welcome Aboard Gala is on Sunday night, and this is on an "at sea" day. But on the Western itinerary, Sunday is at Key West, and the ship doesn't leave till midnight. We're planning on being off the ship just that one evening, as we want to go to Mallory Square for the sunset party we've heard so much about. We might go back to the ship for an early casual dinner at Topsider's Buffet, but won't be attending our regular dining rotation that night. I'm sure lots of others are planning on spending the evening at Key West as well. It'd be a shame if we missed the Captain's Gala!! I hope they have it on another night on the Western cruise!

I would think that the formal nights would be on at sea days (Monday and Thursday).

I was thinking the same thing, that formal nights would be on Mondays and Thursdays (at sea) on the Western cruise. But then I got to thinking that this might not work.. Let's say your dining rotation was APLAPLA. This would put you in Lumiere's on Monday night and Thursday night, which would both be formal nights with special menus (Captain's Gala menu and Master Chefs menu), so you'd never have the chance to order from the "regular' Lumiere's menu. Or if your rotation was PLAPLAP, you'd never get the color "light show" at Animator's Palate, since the light show is only on the regular menu night, not on the themed nights. Since formal nights are "theme" nights, would the folks on this rotation have to miss out on the light show? I wonder if DCL will somehow alter the rotations to adjust for this, or perhaps end up having a formal night on one of the days at port. Sigh. I guess I need to stop trying to figure this out and just see what everyone reports back after May 11th!!!! :)
