Has anyone ever done the 2 hour captain marvins tour that checks in at 8am? We've been on the 1/2 day before, but wondered if there's enough time to tender off the ship and get to the office at 8am?

You might have trouble getting there by 8:00 AM. I know some non-Disney excursion folks have made it off of the ship by then, but you'll have to wait and take your chances.

Safer to schedule a little later.

There are other great independent operators too, Like Capt. Brian and Nativeway.

I have a link to Nativeway:

I just booked the 8:30....but was worried just like you. So I emailed captain Marvin's, which helped ease my concerns. Here is what they said:

ME: I was thinking about booking the 8:30 snorkling w/ stingrays excursion.....but have a question. If my cruise ships tenders in late will I be charged? Thank you so much!

CM:

If your ship arrives too late for you to take our 8:30 trip, or if there is a problem with the tendering process, we will do our best to get you on a later trip that day. If your ship arrives on time and there are no tendering problems, but you do not show up for your trip, you will be charged.

In case you haven't already seen it, our web site at www.captainmarvins.com <www.captainmarvins.com> contains all the information on our trips, times, prices, and location near the cruise ship pier, as well as an on-line reservation form for booking with us.
Let me know if you have any questions after you have read through our web site, and I will be happy to answer them for you. I look forward to hearing from you again!

ME:Thank you for the info! I don't know if you know this info or not ...but can you tell me if the Disney ship usually arrives at a time that would allow me to make the 8:30 excursion? Do you normally have passengers from my ship at that time? Thanks!

CM: Yes, Disney usually arrives here some before 7 AM, giving you plenty of time to check in with us by 8 AM for the 8:30 trip. We have many Disney passengers take our 8:30 trips.

We did the 8:30 on the inaugural western (definitely living dangerously, since there wasn't anyone with experience at that time). We made it with plenty of time (had a snack at a local shop, and poked around a few stores looking for a cheap beach towel, which wasn't to be had). We easily killed 1/2 hour doing that, and were not the last ones to Capt. Marvin's by a long shot. It's doable, but be sure your group is all organized and ready to go. I'd suggest packing your day bag the night before, etc.
