Captain Kangaroo died

on LI. When I was a kid, we saw him shopping at Sears. I'll never forget it!

Oh no, I grew up with him and all the gang. Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit were the best! All those ping pong balls that used to rain down!!!

I remember yelling "Hey Grandfather" to wake up Grandfather clock. I remember Bunny Rabbits constant quest to get more carrots from the Captain. I remember knock knock jokes with Mr Moose. I remember ping pong balls dropping from above. But most of all I remember the Captain, the man of many pockets, as he opened the door of the treasure house and invited me and my sister in to spend another morning with him through the magic of television.

Yes, I remember many mornings spent with the Captain. I wouldn't trade those memories for the world. Goodbye Mr Keeshan. Goodbye and thank you. You made my childhood a little happier all those years ago

They just don't make shows or have hosts like that nowadays. How I wish my children could experience some of the quality shows we grew up with. Good-bye Captain Kangaroo...you'll be missed!

I'm misty-eyed at the news. I loved him and watched regularly as a child. I think I may even still have some of his LPs.

Seems like we've lost a lot of kind, gentle people lately. First Mr. Rogers and now Captain Kangaroo. How sad.

Oh, that's sad. I remember him. He and Mr. Greenjeans. I also watched Gene London, Sally Starr and Chief Halftown.

I went to Dutch Wonderland a few years ago, and Cheif Halftown was signing autographs in his tent near the lake

To be honest with you, I thought he passed on years ago!

RIP Mr. Kangaroo. :(

We always watched Captain Kangaroo and The Old Rebel Show (local show). It makes me sad.:(

Now at age 48, I realize how young he was back when he was the Captain - God bless you, Bob and thank you for the wonderful memories!

Boy, first Ray Rayner and now Captain Kangaroo the world has lost 2 truely great icons.

That's really a shame. I remember watching him when I was a kid :(

He was an important part of my youth :(

Rest in peace, Captain Kangaroo

I still do the key song with my keys! It brings my spirits up.
My favorite was "Banana Man!" I loved watching him make
that train and fill it with bananas all from things out of his coat.
My Dad called me "Bunny Rabbit" for years and to this day, my
friends call me "Bunny." Goodbye Captain! :)

I almost started crying on the way home from work when I heard the news. We have a couple of videos, but unfortunately they aren't entire shows, only clips from some.

Remember the family that lived in the bookcase?

Does anyone else remember "The Toothbrush Family" ?

I also remember Mr. Baxter- he wore an argyle sweater vest.
