how is captain cooks? we've never done food courts before at resorts so not really sure what to expect. is it any good? easy to navigate? if this trip happens, it will be me with 3 young kids (6, 4, 4) so trying to figure things out well ahead of time.

thanks!

Oh boy, we love this place!! We actually go there for dinner on our first night and picnic on the beach for Wishes & the Electric Water Parade!

I usually get the turkey club on multigrain bread and it's really good!! Very fresh and good quality meat. DF always gets the Aloha Pork sandwich and he loves it. I usually get steamed veggies as a side & DF gets the Poly chips (which are like terra chips) and we share.

I'm thinking of trying the Adult Grilled Cheese for next time just to try something new!

**Also-huge plus-Captain Cooks has a self serve Dole Whip machine! I'm sure your kids will love that!! :goodvibes

They are one out of two restaurants at WDW that uses the self serve computer system to order and it's really neat and efficient to use. It's also a very clean restaurant.

We usually go during January/February so low crowd. I've heard that this place gets real busy during peak travel times (as does every other place I'm assuming), so it's good to keep that in mind.

I highly recommend this place. Captain Cooks and Mara (at AKL) are my favorite resort CS restaurants.:goodvibes

I've stayed at the Poly twice, and I love the resort, despite Captain Cook's. It was just recently renovated, and it helped a little, but it's still pretty bad. As with most of the deluxe resorts, this eatery is just too small to handle all of the resort guests. It gets VERY congested at mealtimes (especially breakfast), and the food is only fair. The staff can be very, very, rude. (The same two staff members in particular were rude during both my stays at the Poly. I hate my job too, ladies!) Having said that, I have always eventually been able to find a table to eat at, although I have occasionally had to go out to the pool to do so, the food is not terrible, just not spectacular, and I would never let this stop me from staying at the Poly.

Ok, after I just trashed this place, I read the comments above mine. I do have to admit that the adult grilled cheese is darned tasty, and the dole whip machine is fantastic! Now I feel like a big old complainer!!

When my family and I stayed at the Polynesian in December I went to Captin Cook's a few times and everything I had tasted great. My favorite thing was also the Adult Grilled Cheese Sandwich (expect I got it without the blue cheese) and besides that I enjoyed the Double Cheeseburger, the Traditional Flatbread Pizza and the Caesar Salad with Chicken. Of course I had to try the Dole Whip which also tasted great.

Went there in December and I thought the food was good. I really enjoyed the Aloha Pork sandwich and got the side of Asian slaw with it. The Dole whip machine doesn't hurt either. Sometimes the tables were dirty and had to be wiped down before using. Ate breakfast there a few times during our stay also. It was good too. Typical breakfast items and Tonga Toast for a little bit cheaper than at Kona.

Ordered a flat bread there in Oct and it was the nastiest thing ever, looked and smelled like melted plastic.

We love the Poly and had many lunches and breakfasts here. I have to agree with the previous poster who commented on the workers there--some were good, but in general, they're not Disney's cheeriest CMs!
