First...what's wrong w/ the search function ? Everytime I go to use it , it says it's disabled ??

Has anyone done the 1/2 day snorkel tour w/ Capt Marvin ? Is it too much for an 8 yr old ? Can you stay in the boat at Sting Ray City if you want to ? How deep is the water where you snorkel ? Does anyone get sea sick on the boat ? Should we take Bonine ?

Hi...we did the Captain Marvins 2 hour tour this past August. We went from 11:15 - 1:15. We thought it was just enough. We had 25 minutes of snorkeling in one area and then went on to stingray city and had another 25 minute encounter with the rays. They were awesome...up to about 50 swimming all around you at one time!!!

Captain Marvins supplied all the snorkel equip as well as fruit punch and ice water. It was very informal. Yes, an 8 year old should be fine and they can stay on the boat if they want. You are actually at a sandbar so the water never really get that deep, probably waist high on an adult. We took pic with a Fuji disposable underwater camera the pics came out very well.

Here is a link if you want to see some pics of the rays.

what is the deal at the barrier reef (the first stop) is the water very deep? Do you jump off the boat ( i assume it is not a wade in)
Is there a lot so sea life to view? DH hates snorkleing but will get in for the stingrays, he may not want to go off the boat at the reef. (although I think DS will- he always snorkles with me. ) The problem with DH is he has a moustache and can never get a good seal on his mask.

The reef had an average amount of sea life. We saw many different types of fish, a barracuda and some rays.

Capt Marvins had a ladder that you climbed down into the water. You could jump off the back landing if you wanted to. It was very deep there.

I want to save $ and book through Capt. marvin or nativewaywatersports for an 11:15 21/2 hour tour. What time does the ship leave port? Did you have traffic coming back? I am concerned about getting back late. Thanks for any infor you can give.

By very deep do you mean you could not really see the coral etc. Would a child be afraid or did they all go snorkeling too? Mike has only done wade in snorkling before but has swam out pretty far with the life vest on. do they have the kind you blow up (the vests I mean) were the fish colorful or more like the grey kind at CC?

It was deep, like 30 feet or so. You could see the bottom and you actually swam over tall clumps of coral. I cannot remember what the vest were like.

The fish were mostly grayish, but there were some cool colored ones as well.

disneybets.....According to my August Navigator the ship leaves port at 5:15....the all aboard is at 5:00. You should have plenty of time.
