Right as my DD arrived for her 7:20 ADR Thursday night. No apology, no explanation, just a CM standing outside the front door delivering the bad news. She was unable to get a seat at any other TS restaurant in DTD on such short notice. She headed over to the MK via the Contemporary and found nothing available there either.

Just a suggestion to anyone who has an ADR at Capt Jacks, call before you head to DTD to make sure they're going to be open!

These things happen from time to time. My guess is that perhaps they had a problem with their fire system and were unable to open for business. Most likely something that prompted an immediate close for the night and then back to normal operation the next day.

Had this happen at Coral Reef once. A bummer but at least it wasn't in the middle of free dining madness so we were able to make alternate arrangements easily enough.

Sorry it happened to her. I am sure they had a good reason!

My suggestion (which obviously doesn't help the OP's daughter, but might help other DISers in the same situation in the future) is, if another nearby restaurant can't seat you, ask them for help finding somewhere to eat; or go to the nearest Guest Relations; or, I think someone posted recently that you can contact Disney Dining by dialing 88 on any in-park pay phone. Free.

........Or just conveniently dial from a cell phone. It's quick and easy. I carry the Disney Dining # with me, just in case I need it. When you select the option that you're in the Orlando area they seem to answer pretty quickly.

Wow, sorry that happened to the OP. We are going there in a month or so, I hope it doesn't happen to us. But thanks for the suggestions, if it were too.

This happened to us at Boma last year. They said there was a fire in the kitchen.

A few years ago the same thing happened to us at House of Blues. I had booked an ADR there through Disney Dining to eat prior to seeing the Cirque show. When we showed up, the hostess said they were having a private party and Disney Dining should have checked with them before giving out ADR #'s.

WOW! That is not something that I have ever planned on happening. I will keep the Disney Dining number handy, just in case.
