During our recent trip to Oahu, the Black Pearl was spotted in the terminal harbor at Barber Point next to the Ko Olina lagoons, home of the new DVC resort Aulani.

Within a few days, we spotted it out in front of the construction site (on the high seas, so to speak). Very cool looking and neat to be up close. No filming crews or on shore support was ever spotted.

Whether there in Hawaii for filming or in support of the new DVC resort was unclear by the locals we questioned.

I thought that I heard that the 4th installment of the Pirates movie had started production. It may be that the Black Pearl is in Hawaii for some location shoots. pirate:

…Heads-up pirate fans. Even though the Kauai set of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” is off limits to all but cast and crew, Jerry Bruckheimer, the film‘s producer, aka “@BruckheimerJB” has been sharing photos through Twitter.

I hate myself for knowing this, but that is not the Black Pearl. That looks more like one of the Asian inspired ships. The Black Pearl is more like this:

I am going to guess that it's another ship, or the Black Pearl got a face-lift in the "aftermath" of it's tangle with Davy Jones, in the Maelstrom. Not to mention the damage that Dia Dorma did to it, when she became Calypso again.

Yes, I am a Piratehead! LOL
