I've read mixed reviews about Cap'n Jacks and wonder if anybody has been there lately and if so how was the food and service?

Thanks!

We went in Dec 2005. It wasnt that bad, it just wasnt great. We had a wierd check in experince. We arrived at 3:50 and figured they would seat us for dinner as lunch is from 11-4, then dinner starts. They told us to come back at 4:00?!?!? (Very weird as they are risking the fact you might not come back at eat there.) I had to go to the bathroom so we went over there and then came back at 4:05 to be seated to eat. Service was a bit slow, took a while to get drinks, then apps, then dinner. The place wasnt busy (two other tables full) so I figured the change over was what was slowing things down. We had the spinach artichoke dip which was good and Dh had the crab cakes. He said they were good but strong. I had the sirloin which was okay but nothing to talk about, Dh had the ribs which were not the best but he didnt say why. DD had the hot dog w/ macaroni and cheese. It was a big hot dog. But things moved so slowly, It was 5:30 when we got the bill, so we had to high tail it to cirque on the other side! I got the key lime pie and the white raspberry cheesecake for dessert to go for after cirque. Those both were very good. We wont go back, for the money or the ts we felt there are better choices to be had. It wasnt horrid, just not that good.

We ate there in early December and it was one of the best meals of the trip. We were on the dinning plan and the waiter was really good about telling us what we could "add on" and he was always right there when we needed something. The food was really good as well.

My DH and I had dinner there last Wednesday. DH wanted to go specifically for the lobster tails.
He wound up with the steak and lobster, I had the steak. We thought it was good, and found the price to be reasonable enough. The service was quite attentive and efficient.
We had taken our 5 year old to McDonalds for something prior to going in there because he was not at all impressed with the kids menu.

Just curious if you can still order lobster tail if you are on Dining plan? Do you need to pay extra?

I recalled Cap'n Jacks does not offer advanced reservations. Do you think there will be a long queue if we go there around 7pm?

We were encouraged to add the lobster tails to our dinner in December. We arrived around 6:30 and had about a forty minute wait on a Saturday night.

This was the worst restaurant in WDW -- a title that went uncontested for many years (don't believe? Use the search option). Our meal in February 2004 was so bad it was laughable; it says a lot when the waitress whispered (no joke), "Stick to appetizers tonight."

Lately I've read encouraging reviews. If the wait isn't bad, give it a try. If it's more than 45 minutes go someplace else.

We had one of our best meals on our trip there 2 weeks ago.we had the artichoke dip and the steak and lobster tail.. We got there at about 7.30 and the wait was an hour and a half.. We asked about the bar,and they got us right in and we ate our meals at the bar. We were just adults though

I ate there years ago and loved it too. I could never understand all the negative reviews it gets so we kinda haven't gone back. Shame on us, I know. I'm thinking about giving it another shot on our next trip. I really thought it was one of the best meals I've ever had in Disney along with top notch service to boot.

I agree, our server Bonni was excellent. She was quick and efficient.
I explained to her that our son wouldn't be eating as he didn't like the menu but she made sure that he was well taken care off.
I would definetly go back there again and I hate seafood !

We ate there last week and really enjoyed it. We had great service and the food was very good.

Just ate there last week......I was having strawberry margarita withdrawal. My wife and i both thought it looked very dated and the foor was just so so.

Had lunch there twice both times not bad at all.

I can't believe you found it over priced. The steak and lobster at RFC is 40.00 at this place it is around 30.00
