I need reviews from the good people of this board on this place... Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

We didnt have a great meal here for dinner. It was very bland and slow serivce but that was in Dec. (The place was empty at 4:30, it still took well over an hour to get our entrees.) I have read other reviews since then that sounded like it was improving. We just think with so many great others to chose we wont waste our time here again.

I wouldn't recommend it either. We were there in Nov. around 4pm. Service was horrible. The waitress wasn't mean or anything, she just delivered the food and didn't come back for a long time, my kids never got to have a drink with their meal. When she did come back all she said was, oh gee, I'm so sorry. We also left still hungry. When she asked if we wanted dessert we declined and went to Ghiardelli's (sp?).

Not sure if it has improved since then, but with so many other choices we will not be going back.

DD and I ate lunch there last week. After reading so many negative reviews I wasn't expecting much. We walked up to the podium at about 12:00. The lobby was empty. Our presence was finally acknowedged about 5 minutes later. It took another 5 minutes at least to be seated. At this point I wasn't even sure I wanted to stay but DD really wanted to give it a try. Once seated the waiter approached us immediately and took our drink orders. Iced tea for me and water for DD. Upon delivering our drinks he took our order. the food was delivered quickly. I had the shrimp, crab and pasta in lobster sauce. It was very good but in retrospect too heavy a meal in the heat. DD had crab on foccia sandwich which came with jico slaw I think it was called. The slaw was tasteless and DD had to ask for hot sauce to liven it up. (She has a tendency to put hot sauce on anything bland.) Her sandwich was also very good she said. The crab cake was quite large and she didn't finish the bread or slaw. The server was ok, he offered refills on my tea but otherwise he too was bland. A robot would offer more personality. On the whole I would give the place a solid 6 out of 10 and I will go back.

This was for many years considered the worst WDW restaurant, but recent reviews suggest it's making a comeback. Our own meal in February 2004 was vile. I suggest you stick with stuff that's very difficult for the kitchen to screw up.

We ate there last year during the free dining and are planning to go back in Sept. The crab cake appetizer was really good as was the twin lobster tails.

They do take ADR's now.

When did they start taking ADRs? I called to make mine for our November trip about a month ago and was told they didn't take them.

We'll be on the dining plan and DH wants lobster, so that's the only reason we're eating there. If that changes, we won't be eating there...too many bad reviews.

DH and I ate lunch at Cap'n Jack's last week. I thought it was OUTSTANDING!!! For an appetizer, we had the tomato salad. We were expecting more of a deconstructed bruschetta and it could have had a little more garlic for my taste, but it was a nice light start for a hot afternoon. For an entree, DH ordered the crab cake melt with smoked mozzerella cheese, tomatoes, and cajun horseradish sauce on foccacia bread. This was served with a side of napa slaw. He enjoyed it very much. I also had the crab cake melt, but don't like horsradish or cole slaw. Our server suggested a mixed greens substitute for the slaw and I additionally requested to hold the cajun horseradish. The dish came with the cajun sauce, but our server checked back almost immediately and fixed the mistake quickly. All in all, we were done with our meal and our bill paid within approximately 40 minutes of being seated. The only slightly negative I have to say is that 18% gratuity was added to our bill without being mentioned to us by the server or on the menu (the menu states that one will be added for larger parties). This will not prevent me from returning as it was a very energizing lunch. Good food, good service. Maybe we caught it at a good time, but I recommend Cap'n Jacks.

Ate there last year. Our waitress was INCREDIBLE! Probably the best one we had our whole trip - and we had very good service at just about every restaurant!

Going back this August. Got an ADR for it and we can't wait!!!!

I, too, tried to make an ADR for our September trip and was told that they do not make ADR for this restaurant.
Should I call back?

OK. I am editing this to say that I just called as soon as I typed the above message. The man that answered said that they just started taking ADRs for this restaurant as of June 1. So I was able to get an ADR for our September stay. I am a bit nervous about it since I have read all of these negative reviews, but DH really wants to try this one because of the lobster.

DH and I had an excellent dinner there in May 2006. Service was great. We went mostly because I wanted the twin lobster tails which were included in the dining plan. We were both very happy with the food. The crab cake appetizer was very good. Our table was by the window and we had a lovely view.

I did note that the bad reviews come from people who were there a while ago. The more recent reviews are much better. We will definately go back during our October visit, if we can fit it in between the Food&Wine offerings.

Yes, call back and get ADRs if you want them. I think I read in another post that they started taking ressies in May sometime. I called on Monday to get an ADR in Sept and they didn't have very many time spots open.

I have never eaten there, so can't help you out much there. We to are going for the lobster. :-)

I hope it has improved and not just getting better reviews b/c its hard not to like getting an appet, entree and dessert on the dining plan.

We are considering lunch w/o dining plan with a non-seafood person. Can anyone whose been comment on the french dip, ceasar salad or chicken sandwich? Or how the kids meals are? Thanks.

Add me to the list of naysayers!! I went in June with my 3 girlfriends and none of us enjoyed it.

I had the shrimp, scallops and crab pasta dish and the pasta and scallops were overcooked. I was too hungry to send it back, though.

I did have a yummy frozen drink though, fuzzy passion........YUM!

I won't go back again!
