Is anyone else sick of getting junk mail from Capital One? Last week one day, I had put aside 5 pieces of mail just from them. Then DH opened something addressed to him with no return address....it was from them as well!! Thats 6 things in just one day. Everyday it seems theres at least one piece of mail from them. Don't they get we don't want them 'in our wallet'?
 
but they keep on sending them..at least 2 a week each for hubby and me...he's gotten more 'pre qualified' and 'preapproved' ones from them since he's been out of work than he got when he was working..I don't want them in my wallet either..they are a pain!
 
Yeah, I think we probably get around 4 to 5 offers a week from them. But at least they don't call me on the phone about once a week like Chase. That is even more annoying.

last week they started sending us cardboard mailers that then had a regular mail envelope with the offer inside of it -- it made it look like an express mail package. DH got two on Thursday, I got one, and my 15 year old son got one. :confused3

I opened one up and glanced at the terms. At the bottom in bold print

"Capital One has the right to change the terms of this agreement at any time for any reason."

uh ---- right, that sure is an attractive loan offer. :rotfl2:
 
I got tired of getting that junk too.
I have started to notice on the bottom of a lot of those forms now is an 800 # you can call to "opt out" of receiving prequalified or prescreened offers. I called it an there is an option to choose that permenantly removes you from the 3 main credit reporting agencies that those companies use for their mailings.
I hope it works. My shredder is getting tired... :rolleyes1
 

My 15 year old sister and I get about 2 offers a week from Capital One. It's out of control.
 
We're getting mail from both Capital One and Citi Bank. We also have a business address and a PO Box, so we're getting offers at all 3 addresses. I'm going to need a new shredder soon! Add in all the transfer checks all our credit cards send us, and junk mail is out of control.
 
So what I do.

Send the postage paid envelope back with nothing in it.

IF nothing else it cost them some postage and makes me feel better knowing that I stuck it to the man.
 
We continually get offers for ourselves and also for someone else. I've tried to get them to stop but nothing works. I used to work for them and no, I definitely don't want them in my wallet!!!
 
Having worked for them, yes they are a pain. You get the "pre approved" and "pre qualified" because you meet the base minimum and MOST people do. They went from nothing to the Number 3 credit lender in a matter of 2 years back in 1997. I quit working for them in 2000, after my father passed away. shortly after that they out sourced their Tampa campus call Center, and beleive me they Had it all there.

One thing to note about their opt out, it can take up to 90 days to become effective. It is not immediate. most people think that if you call/write it will be immediately taken care of. Unfortunately there are already things in the works. So you have to be patient. The good thing is, if you record the information as to when/where/who you made the request with. You can make a case of it.
