We are thinking of trying Cape May for dinner when we are there in July. My dh loves seafood and the family we are going with.....do too. Is there plenty of other non seafood choices? I looked on All Ears but didn't know how accurate that menu is. Now this is going to sound weird but is there a strong seafood smell in the restaurant?? :rotfl2: MY youngest son hates the smell of cooked seafood.

Thanks

I'm interested in this too! My DH & I love seafood....two kids...eh, not so much!

They also have pork ribs on the clambake, and they were really good. I don't recall a strong smell of seafood in the restaurant when we've eaten there for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Hi Denise!:wave2:
As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I knew it was you. :rotfl:

Hey, I won't be eating the seafood either...it'll be the chicken & ribs for me.

*And I don't care if we end up someplace else.

I loved their breakfast but have never tried the dinner.

You will be fine, there are many other choices, ribs, chicken, they have pizza, great salad bar. The only seafood when we went was the clams and mussels. Everyone enjoyed their meal there, even my kids who do not do seafood at all.

The chicken IS delicious, and that with the ribs and salad bar is more than enough for a good meal.

I have dined with friends there who said that there was a *mild* smell of seafood in the air. I mean, after all you ARE in a room full of seafood. But, I've never detected it, and I don't think it's anywhere near strong enough to bother anyone...

Enjoy. :wizard:

What kind of chicken? Thanks

My husband is not a seafood fan and my daughter won't eat clams or mussels, but they sacrificed and accompanied me, a total seafood lover to the buffet in Dec. They were very happy with the non-seafood choices. And even with all the seafood available for the taking, I found myself enjoying the rotisserie chicken quite a bit. The Cape May Clambake is now a fave of ours. Go and enjoy!

Always rotisserie. And sometimes fried chicken pieces, and once BBQ.

You know, what ever is leftover from last week.... :lmao:

I kid.

I'm not sure how they decide what goes out, but it is all very good.

OMG, Nikki, when I first read your Oct report a while back, I decided I HAD to try Cape May's Clam Bake. I sorta forgot about it, but looking at your review again, and I HAVE to try that!!!!!

Where is Cape May again, anyone? Beach Club?

TIA!

Ate there '08 '06, '04....you get the picture...

We (Fam of 5) LOVE CMC....

There is a carving station....with Roast...I love that....they have the standard Disney Mashed POtatoes....which I love...they have a pork rib selection...they have GREAT SALAD selections....peel your own shrimp, mussels, etc.

WOnderful Dessert selection....

Great Buffet!

There was plenty that wasn't seafood. This was a great buffet. We had ADR's here almost every year we went and somehow DH would always want to cancel when we got to this restaurant. He would always claim he needed a break from big meals. Last trip in 07 we ate there and our family LOVED it. The food was awesme and it was a unamious YES this time.

Glad it helps! The one thing about buffets is you never know what is on them so I take tons of pictures so everyone can get the idea!

Now if I was just eating there tonight....I would be so happy!

As for a strong seafood smell...

I DO NOT like seafood. (born and raised in New Orleans...go figure:confused3) and yes I would say the seafood smell is very strong. I have stayed at the Beach Club several times and every time I pass through the hallway that surrounds Cape May I have to hold my breath. Of course a question like this will get many different answers. People have different tollerences. :)

Good luck and enjoy :)

Thanks

You could always consider putting your youngest in the Sand Castle Club. My son loves it. The first time I put him in there he begged to go back the next night. It cost $11 or $12 an hour with a 2 hour minimum. They feed them dinner and give them a snack. Even if they are not there during snack time they send then off with the snack. In March my son was sent away with a chocolate chip cookie and chocolate milk. The dinner offerings are things like pizza, hotdog, chicken tenders, etc. The club is in the Beach Club and about a 3 minute walk from Cape May.

I am not a seafood person either by any stretch, but having stayed there several times (and indulged in that delicious buffet), I have to say I've never really noticed the seafood smell. It could be there, though, and maybe I was just so excited to actually be there that I didn't even notice. :upsidedow
