Would you reccomend the Cape May Clambake for non-seafood eaters? It will be me and my DD18. Neither of us are big seafood eaters but will we still enjoy it?

Thanks

Well, yes, I think you would still enjoy it. They had several great options for non-seafood eaters but in my humble opinion the crablegs and steamers are the reason to go. With so many great food options in Disney I'd go elsewhere if seafood isn't appealing to everyone in your party.

Thought I hop onto this thread, too, but with a different question about Cape May. We are from Boston, and are within a "short" drive to the best areas for seafood in the USA...Cape Cod, Maine, Gloucester....We love our seafood (esp clams, scallops,lobster-fried,steamed,baked...) Does Cape May compare to what we are used to, or would we be disappointed? I've always wanted to try it, but not quite sure if we'll like Disney's version of a New England clambake.

To the first poster, Cape May is our buffet of choice when we have a group that has diverse tastes and preferences.

To the second question, I grew up in New England and we like the buffet but IT IS NOT a New England Clambake.

It is a buffet with clams, mussels, crab legs, shrimp and fish (among many other things of course).

The clams are NOT like we get on the shore or east coast. They are tiny (think baby clams used in pasta) but they are tender.

It's a fun place to go, and we've only been disappointed once (when the steam tables were malfunctioning).

I went and I'm not a seafood eater, but I went because I was with a seafood eater. Otherwise, I'd opt for something else. It's mostly pretty fishy... and you can get a salad elsewhere for cheaper. If you just wanted to eat at Cape May, the breakfast is good...

1. It is DEF not comparable to New England seafood, but that doesn't make it bad by any means. They have yummy mussels, chowder, crab legs, seafood salad, etc.
2. They have a TON of choices for those who don't love seafood. I can make a meal out of the ribs there, OMG it's so good! They also have a variety of salads, potatoes, and I LOVE their oreo bon bons at the dessert bar! My dad isn't a huge seafood fan, but Cape may is our favorite dinner place in disney!

We didn't enjoy our dinner there.

It was just too busy...
maybe our table location???

or maybe because I'm not a huge buffet fan.

The "experience" for me was similar to a hotel food court.

I'd definitely say... if you don't like seafood...
go somewhere else!

We went in Nov. due to my dh's love of seafood. I really don't eat any of it, and for me, it was still really good! My kids are quite picky and they found lots to eat too. They have a nice selection of choices and the desserts were good too!

Hi. If you're not staying in the area (which I see you're not), then I would probably recommend somewhere else. We love Cape May, but we spend most of our time with the clams, mussels and fish and there's enough to keep our kids happy there.

I recommend Trail's End at Fort Wilderness if you like ribs and chicken. Really nice comfortable restaurant with good food. I recommend making a night of it - have dinner then go to the beach and watch the Electrical Water Pagent and Wishes from the beach (they pipe in the music nice and loud, unlike the Poly).

We ate at the Cape May Cafe last night. My wife is a big seafood eater... so, she was in heaven. I was very happy with the pork loin, ribs, mac & cheese, caesar salad, and corn bread. There were vegetables too, but who eats veggies on vacation?!?!? :lmao:

It was my first time there, and I enjoyed it.

Hope this helps!!

As a former Bostonian (now in a self-imposed but happy exile in Iowa), no, it is not in any way comparable to a true New England clambake. As others have pointed out, however, it still falls somewhere between pretty good and very good for a buffet.

If you compare it to a place like Woodman's of Essex, or one of the lobster pounds on the coast of Maine, you'll be sorely disappointed, but if you enjoy buffets (with two little ones, our lives are more relaxing if we can move at our own pace at mealtime) you should give it a try.

I do think that if neither of you enjoy seafood, you may want to try another buffet.

Thanks for the current review, can you tell me how much the buffet pricing is right now? Did you pay holiday price or regular ? Thanks!:)

Me too-I live in RI and I know my seafood. I'd be irate if I went to a clambake that wasn't done right. Plus, I like to try new things when I'm at WDW-most of my summers at home involve the beach and large amounts of seafood..I don't need to go to WDW for that.;)
