We are going back to WDW in June and I wanted to book a character breakfast instead of dinner ($$$!) so I booked at Cape May...only to discover (via online investigation) that Mickey is not there and it is only Goofy, Minnie and Donald?

If you have been there, is that what you have experienced?

I'm kinda bummed because my son keeps talking about going back to Chef Mickey's, but I refuse to pay the $42  for dinner again (just there in Feb 2012) and the breakfast reservations are all taken up unless we want to go at 7:20am!!!

So bummed!! :sad2:

Also, we'll be staying at the Wyndham BC so in-park restaurants aren't as much of an option as we'll probably only go to MK one day while there - since we were just there and there are no dollar bills growing on the trees in my front yard. :confused3

When we went last September it was only Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. Unfortunately Mickey was not there.

Cape May Cafe has one of the best (most delicious) breakfast buffets, and I'm pretty sure it is still just Minnie, Donald, and Goofy in their beach/swim suit attire. Everything was very delicious when we went there in 2010... But if you want a character buffet with Mickey.. I recommend the Tusker House buffet at Animal Kingdom... been there every trip for breakfast, and lunch in December 2011... just added characters to lunch. The food is delicious and a great variety. You get Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Daisy in safari outfits.

My 2nd choice is Garden Grill in Epcot (dinner only) with Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

I know you said breakfast... but I like these better... I'd rather use my morning time to take advantage of low crowds in the park.

The other resort that has a character breakfast with Mickey is Ohana. If still the same... we had a pretty good breakfast there and it was Mickey, Pluto, Stitch, and Lilo... but if you're going there, you might as well go to Chef Mickey's if seeing the most characters is your objective.

Here's a link to my 2010 review of Cape May Cafe.

We LOVE the character breakfasts, and usually do one almost every day of our trips... That said, CMC is DEFINITELY the best hands down in our opinion. The food is the best, the layout of the restaurant is ideal, the Beach Club is beauiful and the characters are always fun (Minnie loves me!). If you wanted to see Mickey, Chef Mickey's or Ohana would be options for breakfast, but Ohana is the worst of the character breakfasts in my opinion. And Chef Mickey is pretty tough to get into unless you book close to the 180 days out. I'm assuming that having Mickey there is probably the reason why. I don't think you'll be disappointed with CMC though. It's our favorite and the only one that we do multiple time each trip!

I agree with this 100%. Cape May is amazing. Love the atmosphere, characters and food! But I can honestly say that for me Tusker House is way better. The food selection is incredible and tasty. I love this place. I highly recommend it! If your child really wants mickey, then maybe Tusker is the way to go. Having said that, im sure you cant go wrong with whatever you choose.

Mickey isn't there..It is as mentioned Minnie,Donald and Goofy in their beach clothes. If Mickey is a must he does appear at the Epcot Garden Grill dinner.Garden Grill is in the LAnd pavilion and only open for dinner

We love Cape May breakfast also, and the 2 times we were there, Chip and Dale were part of the characters. Don't know if they still are or not. If you are staying at Yacht/Beach Club, it's that much more appealing. And it's so, well, beachy, just like you are on vacation!

Like others have already said, Mickey is not at Cape May Cafe instead it is Minnie, Goofy, and Donald sporting beach attire. This is one of our favorite character meals and is a must do each time we go. If you really want to have breakfast with Mickey and are planning on going to MK afterwards, try getting an ADR for O'hana's Best Friends Breakfast over at the Poly. They have Mickey, Pluto, Stitch, and Lilo. This is another great breakfast that is served family style so no buffet lines. Tusker House is another great meal that has Mickey and now you can have lunch with him too :goodvibes.

Thanks all!!! For now I have reservations at CMC and Ohana...we will decide on one...or heck, maybe even do both!!

Thanks for the input - loved reading it!!! :goodvibes

Cape May is our favorite character meal. The food has always been good and the character interaction wonderful. CM on the other hand I've never had good food and the interaction was just so so. It does have less characters but they are in old fashion swim suits.

Sadly Donald replaced Chip and Dale.

We liked the Cape May breakfast and thought the characters were so cute in their beach clothes - love that Donald!
