Cape May Cafe question

Hello all. I am wondering if the age requirements are enforced for the childrens dinner at Cape May Cafe. We have a small 12 year old with a small appetite who would love the items on the childrens buffet. Me, dw and 13 year old all would very much like what is on the adult menu. If they won't let us pay the childrens price and eat off the childrens menu, will they at least let him eat off the children's buffet if we pay the adult price for him? Although $30.99 is a bit much for a couple of slices of pizza. Thanks for your knowledge.

They will charge u based on their age regardless of what u eat. unless u lie which i'm assuming u dont want to do. the price is set up by age and has nothing to do w/ what u eat. It's all buffet and adults and children alike are welcome to eat from either the kids or adult buffets- so everyone can help themselves to wahtever they like- but just b/c they only eat from the kids food does not mean they'll charge for kids. they dont monitor what u eat.

Yes that does help. Thank you. The menus online seperate the menus by adult and children and list what is available for each, hence my confusion. How is the food? Would you recomend it?

You'll find people on here who love it such as the people we travelled with last year, but for me and my family, it was average at best. For $160 for fam of 4 (two kids) there are MUCH better and more compelling places to eat at WDW.

Well- for my family growing up it was a must-do. But my family loved seafood. I did not loved seafood, but always found things i loved and loved it as well. Now my husband didn't care for it at all- and he hates seafood as well.
I think it's a good place- and if you're staying nearby there i think it's a great place to eat, but i prob wouldnt travel much from another resort area to go there for dinner either.
Where are you guys staying???

Kids eat the adult items and adults eat the kids items. They have several items that are not seafood.

Yep - everyone can eat anything on th buffet. DH and I both love the mini-corndogs, lol!

I am an adult and will always take a few things off the children's section at a buffet! What can I say...I'm a child at heart. I think if it is acceptable for an adult to do it...it will be acceptable for a twelve year old!

I think you are confusing the price with another restaurant. The cost is around $30 for adults and $13 for kids. That is $75 plus tax and tip for a family of 4 with two kids.

We eat there on every trip because DH is a huge seafood lover and we feel the price for the amount of seafood you can get is a great value. I don't even eat seafood and it's one of my favorite buffets.

As others have said, the childrens buffet is just a lower setup of child-friendly foods that appeal to kids. Children are not restricted to just eating from that part of the buffet. Any person, child or adult, can eat any food item on any area of any buffet in Disney.

That being said, you will most likely have to pay the adult price for your 12 year old, no matter how much he eats. Unless he is very small and can pass for a 9 year old. My DD just turned 10 and is very petite so I'm hoping when we go in May, she won't be asked her age. We are paying OOP so if we can get away with paying the childrens price that would be great. Of course if she is asked her age, she won't lie and we'll pay the adult price.

I would recomend the food, love eating there. Also the breakfast is great there.

We just did the breakfast on Tuesday and it was wonderful. My new favorite character breakfast!!!

Thank you all for your information. We are staying at SSR on our next stay. My 13 year old and I can almost eat our weight in clams, but dw and 12 year old probably won't eat any. We are considering it, but for $120.00 for the four of us (TIW card will cover the tip), we may try something else. Being from Maine we can just go to a clam/lobster bake before we leave alot cheaper. Maybe a nice steak house, I hear the one at the Yachthouse is very good. We haven't tried Jiko yet, but will be staying at AKL next year so might wait. There are so many choices. I guess that is one of the things that makes WDW so great. On past trips we didn't make advenced reservations and couldn't get in anywhere (except the Brown Derby which was good). This time we are trying to plan ahead and make reservations.
